I have been watching the 2002 Challenge of Champions final matches the last few days. Mika had Efren beat in the final, but set a trap for himself that ended up hooking himself, and left Efren a 4 ball out on the Sudden Death game.

But, what I want to know is what cue Efren was using during this time. Efren looked to be completely comfortable with the cue. It looked to be a nowrap cue with Curly Maple forearm and butt sleeve, with Rosewood handle with rings. It may have had a wrap on it, but I don't think it did.

It looked to be a player's cue. Anyone know what cue it is?

Efren hit one of the most difficult cut shots I've ever seen at 4-4 in second set. He was nearly parallel to the 9 ball way up the rail and he cut it in anyway. Totally spectacular considering the circumstances (if he missed, he would lose the chance at $50,000)

I think he used a little inside to keep from scratching cross side.
JUST LIKE YOU DO

How goes John? I haven't seen you for a while. Say hello to 'Mrs Johnny'. I see Wayne has cut back his schedule some. Take care.

The last 2 racks including the slice of the 9 ball leading to the sudden death rack could be the most amazing 2 racks (under the circumstances) ever. If anyone ever thinks the man is over rated they only need to watch them.

Yeah Efren's out to stay in it - inlcuding that SICK SICK SICK cut on the nine were outstanding.

Then Mika had him beat and chose to take a low percentage, off-angle shot to try and break the balls out rather than to play a 100% safety that would have been at least 50% to end up favorable for Mika. Efren got real lucky that Mika did that. I hope he showed Mika some love with some Jelly for doing that. :-)
