Watching some espn pool I tivo'd. Can someone please tell Allen Hopkins that there is no M in Efrens name. He has been calling him Efrem for years. I cant believe no one has ever helped the guy out on this. I think Allen is one of the better a announcers on espn. Someone poke him and give him the hint.

He has been pronouncing snooker "schnooker" for as long as I can remember.

Nick Varner calls Efren, Efren as well.
How 'bout Mitch Lawrence pronouncing Reyes as RAY-YESSS?

Stickler for names...

YEAH...don't these guys realize their on TV?...it's not like they're faced with new info from week to week...these men and women are people they know personally and professionally...can't they at least endeavor to get their names right?!

LMAO ... Eddie and Frank, there's some type of solution for everything.
Ever notice when someone has a mouthful of name, that they always
get a nickname of some type. I think some Poolplayers got their
monicker that way ... lol

Snapshot,
Perhaps an alternative is that we all call Hopkins "Allem Hopkims" until he gets the idea.

As far as the pronunciation "schtraight", I have a professional friend that says it the same way; and I'm starting to do it myself every time I have a "schtraight-in" shot - its driving my wife crazy.

How about Niels Feijen,i dont even know how to pronounce it,lol.

Azri...

Well it's a damn sight closer than "Snucker" that most Americans come out with. But I don't suppose we can expect too much of from Pol players.

I don't think you can pronounce it Lol. It's closer to Kneels or Nils. Apparently it's Dutch for Niels.

I'm pretty sure I've heard Mike Sigel call him Efrem also. But Schnooker is the worst. God that's annoying.

man, you should have heard him slaughter fong pang chao's name when he played bustamante for the winner take all finals at mohegan sun. i mean its 3-one syllable words and the way he mispronounced differently each and every time made me want to change the damn channel. i'm not trying to be funny when i say this, but i think he might suffer from dyslexia...they should find better commentators; ones that can read and don't talk so damn much. jmho

Scott Smith announced the players name nicely and correctly (most of the time)

Regards...

Yeah, I was gonna bring that one up. He called Chao "Fang Pi" at one point. I couldn't stop laughing.

Speaking of gaffs, there's an older Accu-Stats tape with Billy Incardona and Jeff Carter doing the commentary. Buddy Hall misses a shot and goes to sit down, and Incardona says, "I don't think Buddy is going to drool over that shot." Carter says, "He's not gonna what??" And Incardona repeats it, "He's not gonna drool over that shot." Carter starts laughing, and corrects him, saying he means "dwell" and that "drool" means something very different.

Every time Buddy came to the table after that I had this disturbing image in my mind...

Im glad someone else is annoyed at this. I have posted this twice before and never drew a single comment that anyone but me cared. He cannot be ignorant of the fact that there is no 'm' so what explanation can there be for this insult? I just find it so unprofessional.
