Did you know that when Efren first started playing pool that the players only gambled at pool and that there were NO POOL TOURNAMENTS IN THE PHILIPPINES?

Would you like to know more, a lot more? A heck of a lot more?

C'mon Joey...spill the beans

If you're planning a biography then I will surely be ordering a copy. I'll even pay extra to have it signed by "The Magician" :)

You're on the clock

I hate to sound ungrateful...
...but did you take posting lessons from Charlie Williams?

It's more than 12 hours already :boring2:

Efren was a Karambola King of the Philippines one time ( straight rail billiards ).

Hey Joey, give us more, my friend.

Concentration

Efren almost ALWAYS gives credit to his fellow competitors so when I write these things I may leave out many of the credits that he gives to all of his competitors.

Efren started gambling successfully at the age of either 9 or 12.

He did not start playing in pool tournaments until 1985 and that was here in the U.S.

He especially enjoyed coming to the United States to FIND good players to see if he could beat them.

How do you improve your concentration?: "You have to think, you have to think VERY HARD". He claims that he used to be a VERY GOOD player but now his game has gone down but that he keeps winning because of his experience. Don't think about anything except the game and the table. This is the key to concentration. The main problem with concentration is that eventually you get tired and your concentration fails. When you get tired you have to fight to hold your concentration and not ignore it.

More to come. And this doesn't come from the very nice article in Wikipedia.

Here's another one for the serious pool player?

When is the best time to practice pool?

A few guesses and I will tell you what Efren said.

After a little while, I will give the source full credit for the information.

Right after waking up! I heard he used to sleep under a pool table so he could be there right when he woke up to practice.

That's what I was thinking, too. Right after you wake up, you're relaxed and your mind is clear.

I've had personal experiences as well where immediately after I woke up, I went to the pool table that used to be in my parents' house, and it seemed like I couldn't miss. Everything just seemed to flow.

Efren said it is best to play early in the morning when you first wake up AND late in the evening.

Nick Barrow interviewed Efren Reyes for over 39 minutes and asked him many questions. I was gifted the recording by Doug Gordon and I think it was done in the UAE.

If you think Efren can't speak English you should listen to this recording. :D

Nick's web site is http://www.thesnookergym.com/ and he has some things there worth noting and perusing.
