Hey, wait a minute! Jay says Efren got beat by Buddy AFTER winning the tournament, and Freddie says Efren got beat by Buddy EARLY in the tournament. They can't both be right...who's got the real scoop?

After Efren won the tournament and beat Wade Crane brutally in the finals in a race to 13. Does anybody know what the line on the game was? I, like a dummy, bet into it. The Filipinos were giving Wade three games on the wire going to 13! I had to go for that. No good. And after that performance how much even action around there do you think he got? Our rotation champion Allen Hopkins said no to the fifteen ball. My memory of Buddy's match is that seemed to occur before Keith played him bar pool.

According to Poker Paul, they played after Efren won the tournament.

I did an interview of Allen Hopkins....

Its been a few years ago, but I did an interview of Allen Hopkins. Basically he said that he beat Efren regularly out of money. I think he said he beat until he just had bus fare to get home. He had just came over from the PI and was learning some different games.

He later said, he is the best player today and wouldnt even consider playing him now.

If there is any interest I will look for my notes on the entire interview.

I also have his comments of Miserack and others.

While with most interviews, you have to make your own decisions whats a stretch and what is gospel. I tend to believe them when they are speaking of others being stronger than they are.

For example, Ernesto said to me in an interview, that Keith was so good, that he had offered ANYONE the last 2 and these "Champions" wouldnt go for it. Ernesto is a damn good player and he said he wanted none of it at that time.

I don't know alot about this so perhaps our filipino posters can elaborate on this some but Efren has lost to Dennis Orcullo playing some pretty high stakes back home in the Philippines.
