Reading the story I don't think the balls actually made contact with each other after hitting several rails, they were just both flying around the table. Sounds like Efren made at least a three or four rail bank though.
That may be Efren's greatest gift, to have the confidence to fire at almost ridiculous shots. Even if other people see them they instantly dismiss them as too high risk. Good call for ordinary humans, Efren when he is on isn't human.

It seems as if the writer originally thought that Efren had made poor safety attempt "hitting the ball too hard?" but then as the cue ball and object ball are careening around the table, they collide and the object ball falls. The author then decides that Efren actually saw that shot and played that shot (Or did I misread what he was saying?) . I know he is the magician but that shot sounds TOO magical even for DA MAN!
