Efren will win

I saw how he beat Strickland 120-117 to win the $100,000.(winner take all) Hong Kong Challenge.

Earlier in the match Strickland was killing him. Personally I thought Efren was dead and I marvelled how he came back.

When the big money is on the line, Efren has another gear. Mike Sigel is a legend, however, I'll be very surprised if he beats Efren for the $$$$$.

The way Efren came back on Earl was one of the most incredible displays of "Heart" I've ever seen.

And the way that Earl acted (like a complete ass) both during Efren's come back and after it was all over was one of the most incredible displays of poor sportsmanship that I've ever seen.

I'll be damn.....

The IPT site has 93% of voters on Efren to win.

I make Sigel only a 3-2 underdog against Efren. The same line I would make regardless of who he's playing. Definitely an underdog but fully capable of pulling an upset.
Remember one very important thing, he's beaten all these guys (except Marlon) before many times, and pool players have long memories, especially for players they lose to.
It's kind of like George Foreman coming back after all those years off. He surprised a lot of people, didn't he.

Sigel called himself a 9-5 favorite over Manalo had he won because he just does not have the experience, playing in FINALS, as Efren and Busta have. But when Reyes won Mike was not making any predictions. I think it will be close.

But Mike did break and run 8 racks in a row the day before yesterday while practicing on the table in the finals arena so he can do it. And he made it look easy.

Efren was dead on his feet when he lost to Ray Martin at the start but he got stronger as the days wore on. I heard he had eye surgery recently and he just looked terrible, at first. And just managed to keep from being eliminated.

This will be a great battle. Race to 8. First one to win two sets gets $200,000.

Mike has been on his feet and on the go during the entire event working the crowd and promoting pool so he is a bit tired. He looked worn out early yesterday. But it should be a great match and I am sure they will sell plenty of DVD's.

Damn, I was stupid for not getting a ticket for today's match.

Yep. I found an extra ticket for you, but I couldn't find you last night! If you can respond within 15 minutes or so, and want to go to the finals, get back with me.

Sigel is a great player, capable of playing near perfect pool. But he hasn't played in a match this big in many, many years, and I believe that's a bigger problem than some others seem to think. My guess is that Mike only wins this is Efren is way off his usual form.

Mike ran eight straight in practice? Impressive, but so what? Warming up for the 2000 US Open straight pool, Mike ran a 280, but when it was time to compete, he wasn't able to summon his best game.

If Mike gets out there and plays like the Mike Sigel of the 1980's in victory, it will be one of the great pool stories ever, but I'm betting against. Beating Efren two sets out of three is a very tall order!

You guys are lucky. I'm a single dad and my son, 9 yrs old who loves pool, had school this week so we were stuck here.

I look forward to being there in the future though. I hope you are getting some good pictures because this is the kick-off event that will never happen again with so many HOF'ers.
