If Efren shows up at a senior event, is the rest of the field playing for second place?

Nick Varner and Jose Parica have not showed up at the US Open in a while .I would say 'no way,' Todd.
Longevity (into older age) in any game or sport requires two things:
1) Decent health in order to continue participating in one's activity, and
2) Continued participation in that activity in order to maintain muscle memory/knowledge set.
Efren is getting old and he doesn't look very healthy for his age (what, 60?).
No matter what knowledge set he has accumulated, he has to be able to participate adequately.
I love Efren, but unfortunately, his play is deteriorating every year.
There are lot of 50- and 60-somethings that are very healthy and can play jam-up.
Given the right circumstances, Efren doesn't have to win (at any senior event);
especially the older he gets, I imagine the healthy 60-somethings are going to start "barbequing" him more and more.
I can think of two artists (in their respective fields) who had TONS of untapped potential who,
had they paid more attention to their health,
would have given the world many more years of their craft:
STEVE MIZERAK and ISRAEL KAMAKAWIW'OLE.

There's absolutely no excuse these days for (adult-onset) bad health." --Boogeyman
