He's played on and off with a Judd Cue for several years, mostly on. It's (actually 'they' as I believe he owns several) a plain JT-1.

I know other cuemakers have made him a cue here and there, and he will use them here and there, but he seems always to go back to the Judd.

I posted the same question in the main forum and Nibrobus said it's Efren "bata" Reyes cue made by Mezz. From the pics that's look like the cue that Efren used as his playing cue in this recent IPT.

Thank you for the help.

He used to play with Meucci then switch to Judd cue. I think the guy who made Efren's first Judd cue made it specifically for him.

I still wanna know where is the $20 pool stick that he used in Houston when he was using the moniker Cesar Morales.

You probably know the story, but since you are asking the question...maybe not. That cue & case were stolen long ago. I don't expect it to resurface. I believe that theft was how Efren ended up signing on with Meucci.

cue

Judd was at the IPT event in Las Vegas and I own a Judd so we were talking and he mentioned that the plain cue that Efren is shooting with is a Cosmo cue from China or Japan. The cue with points is one of his but the plain one that he is using now is not.

Efren used two Philippine made cues early on. One made by someone named Boyet. In 1994 he started using the Jessie cue. It won him the US Open.
Efren signed with Meucci but still owned the Jessie cue. After the contract with Meucci expired, Judd made him a cue. In 1999, when he ran that 9 racks on Busta at WPC, Efren actually switched back and forth with the Judd and the Jessie cue. The Jessie finally developed a rattle and it was sold to a collector.
Judd used the JT1 from then on. Then he started using Alex's ( owner of Stix poolroom now ) ebony Judd with ivory points. The one he taped the handle at last year's DCC.
Mika talked him into signing with Mezz last year or so.

LOL, for a pool superstar, he's not so picky when it comes to cue. It looks like he uses what ever feels right. Or he's just probably too superstitious to keep using same old cue.

Heck, Gus Szambotti made him a cue and he refused to use it.
He played with his $15 cue instead. :D

Hey Joey - you ever hit with his Mezz cue? Wondering if it was worth the ~$1,000 they're asking for the "Bata" series cues...

I've hit with one here locally. A Taiwanese dude shoots with one.
The ferrule absorbs chalk like a sponge.
The butt taper gets fat fast. You can even notice in the picture.
The joint is nice and tight. The shaft has a nice medium stiff taper.

Efren gave his personalized Szambotti cue to his long time manager and
friend Lando Vicente and he in turn sold it to a Jap 4 and a half years ago...

Those Japanese will collect anything. LOL, I guess it's pretty nice having a lot of money.

I wonder how much his $20cue that he used in Houston would go for if it wasn't stolen? I think some Texan actually offered him 10K for it, but was already gone.
