I remember somebody asking to see an example of this a while back. I'm sure plenty of players can do a better job and I think somebody said Efren actually stops to cb on the spot!

Anyway this is my best attempt from about 5 mins of attempts, its not easy!

Good try Mr. Riley but you're busted!!!

There's clearly a couple of bricks mounted under the leg of the table, making the table not level (see pink line).

Sherlock strikes again

Since I started taking vitamins, I probably do that shot 10 times in a row every practice session before I start working on the hard stuff :D

J/K - Great shot. Thanks for posting.

Cheers,
RC

I attacked the shot differently. I started with the cue ball just above the side pocket and gradually worked my way up towards the headstring. I kept shooting the shot from the current location until I made it and stopped the cue ball dead. I got the cue ball even with the first diamond above the side pocket in about a half hour of trying. I was trying it on a 9-foot GC3 with 4.4-inch pockets and medium-old cloth.

approximately what elevation, what spin?

Inside draw. At a diamond above the side pocket, I was still shooting with a normal grip, but it was getting pretty hard to be elevated enough. Any farther up the rail and I think I would have had to go to side-arm for more elevation.

The amazing thing is that reports of the shot have Efren shooting with a nearly level stroke. I think this says a lot more about peoples' ability to observe than about Efren's magical talents.

Agreed, he is a legend so people will add to the story to make the feat more...legendary!

Back in the 80's, I played in a poolroom in Arlington, VA (off of Arlington Blvd.) and I played a guy from PA. He beat me for a few hundred and after the match while we were bullsh#ting about pool, he shot that spot shot and stopped it about 2 to 3 inches from the spot. He jacked up and masse'd the shot. Awesome! Nice video!

LMAO funny Colin...clearly this is some sort of Houdini trick. I mean look at how putting even more bricks under the table here makes it so he can do a 95 ball run. I need to find me some of his bricks. They sell those only outside the USA?

Craig this shot is awesome, I bet you can catch a few folks on a good "betcha".

This shot you show here though is really awesome. twice in a row no less, on film. NICE!

That was all done with smoke, mirrors and fishing line;)

where did this all start.....video anyone....?

I have seen posts about this shot a few times over and over, but I don't know the origin of it...explain please. Now I never claimed to be a good player and am my worst critic, but I played in a league years ago (first ever) that had sort of made up rules (8ball). If your opponent scratched and you had no shot outside the kitchen (obviously ball in hand not in this league) he had to spot the ball closest to the kitchen line. And couple of times it came up that they would scratch and I had only the 8 on the table in the kitchen. Therefore I was left with an 8ball for the win with ball in hand behind the line. So the shortest path possible was this same shot we speak of now. And I have made it a few times.
