Efren's Stroke Slo Mo'd

Sure. It's a PDF file at Pro Aiming Article

Really interesting reading.

Wow-so much info and some of it not so good imho.

Jim Rempe says he uses a Meucci and it doesnt deflect so that is not an issue for him.

Nesli O'Hare implies there is more deflection with a slow stroke than a hard one.

I once talked to a top regional level player who did not know that deflection existed. Certainly though no one can play at that level without allowing for deflection so subconsciously his brain had to know about it.

It is mentioned in the article that perhaps no mattter how you began to learn to aim, your eye hand coordination will eventually compensate for the shortcomings of your system. In short you will perceive a reality that is false and make shots.

I think this is why it is particularly difficult for a non novice to adapt to a different aiming system.

So what aiming system does DM use?

I use 3 or 4 different aiming systems...all of which are no doubt better than what you've ever been introduced to, if you have at all. They were handed down to me when I was on a mission from God.

tongue in cheek!

This player? Forgive me if I'm wrong but you do know who efren is right? It just seems the way you wrote it is as if you didn't know his name or who he is...

Most folks responding to my post realized I had my tongue planted firmly in cheek. I do realize who Efren is. I also realize that he has developed a style that most people on this board would feel was all wrong if the video hadn't included his face or name.

I don't know who the best player in the world is, I doubt anybody does. However on a given day Efren can beat anybody in the world and he does many things "wrong" or to be more accurate, different from standard teachings. I got a chuckle watching an old match of his the other day. The commentator was making a terrible mess of calling what Efren was fixing to do. His style of shooting and the way he plays for shape is often anything but textbook. This makes him much more interesting to watch than most players.

Yeah different would be more accurate. Who is to say that it is wrong. Bruce Lee came up with his own style of fighting. Different but not wrong. Funny about those commentators too.

right

That is why "wrong" was in quotation marks. Anybody trying to teach a new shooter would be busy trying to change all of the "wrong" behavior if the shooter stroked like Efren. Can't call it wrong when it works as well as it does for him though!

There really isn't such a thing as a wrong way to do things if if the cue ball consistently does what you want it to.

DM, has God learned how to use inside english yet? The owner of the room where I grew up playing in back south always said. "God don't even know how to use inside english", so I was just wondering ;)

The funny thing is that this article touched on just about every aiming system that has been discussed here. What this article proves is that most of the pros use something that they have either learned or developed. So it's back to WHAT works for you.

You don't understand Cane...Joey claims to have insider information because he knows a friend of a friend that happens to be the second cousin to another friend that is in fact the first cousin to Efren and "he" claims that Efren uses nothing. But then again...Joey has been known to make things up on the spot to coincide with his own goofy views.

You really don't know what you are talking about!! But yet you have to open your pie hole. Yes Joey does know Efren, yes they talk together every time Efren is in So. Cal. Efren and Bustamante left So. Cal this evening but stopped by Hard Times to say goodby to some of the people. Efren hit a few balls with Tang Hoa and Bustamante hit some with Brook, the owners daughter. No, Joey was not there, hopefully he was at home working on my cue. Talk about "goofy views" that is the pot calling the kettle black. Your views are becoming less enlightening by the day.

That is a correct statement about God because he doesn't play much pool and is too busy tending to the universe.

It was taught to me by one of his workman....SAINT HAL.

Yeah and if you read carefully someone says some secrets you just don't tell, or something in that nature. Cole

I hope your next mission is a Jihad type.
You'll die a pointless death though because even if strapped with a ton of bombs, you'd still miss a bus b/c you can't aim a lick.
Tone down on me a little and on Gerald as well.

Sure Joey, anything for you. In the mean time, PM Gerald and tell him the same. Time line on this shows his post first. If he continues...no deal...I don't care if his name is Gerald Ford.

My eyes and back are better.
Gerald's eyesight is not too good. His back doesn't allow him to play for a long time. We just play short sessions and mostly watch the very good players at HT play ( Eberle, Ernesto, Morro, Efren and company ).
