Elephant Ear, is that considered "exotic"?

Thanks Krisha, so how do customs officials figure out if it's real EE or EE embossed leather? How do they figure out if's real ivory or fake ivory?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a high endish cue without any of that "blood diamond" stuff. I just don't want it to be held up in counterfeit court by the local yocals.

I did not opted to take the risk and went for a black lizard wrap, should have a nice outcome on the cue that will be a tribute to my daughters. According to bob it should be ready within a week or two and will then post it.
But i actualy have no idea why a lizard wrap is not seen as exotic?
The only other thing that bob adviced me was to opt for a first class figure on that wrap, abit more pricey but wellworth it?
Kind regards.

Thanks, I just pulled the trigger. There were two Barnhart cues at "Recollection Cues" about 8 months ago. Both 4 point Ebony cues one with ivory, and one "made on the cheap". I've regretted not buying that "cheap one". I'd pay for the Ivory and not get it. Lot's of pool players don't live in the USA, there's a market for this sort of thing. "IMPORT FRIENDLY" JMO

Thanks for the advice. Karl

I would not call any Barnhart cue "made on the cheap". Rather, they are either built as exportable (no exotic materials without proper CITES documentation), or built to be sold only in the US.

Several years ago, one of Cory's chief cue importers in Japan had an issue with customs in regards to ivory imports to Japan. Since that time, you can not buy a cue for export from Cory Barnhart with "exotic" materials in it.

Cory only uses the best of materials....never anything "on the cheap".

You can't read between the lines? All you folks in the USA cherish blood diamonds. To the rest of the world, we have explain it. Dude, I said I would pay Cory the same for cue without Ivory are "ANY" other issues, Just so I don't get a red-ass, trying to import it.
It's been on the market for awhile. I offered exactly what he was asking. I hope he takes it. As Chris Jacobs of the TV show "Overhaulin" would say. Welcome to the BlackCreek Family.

I have to go to bed now. Karl

Cory did not have the cue for sale, Recollection Cues did. A good thought is to get on Cory's list to have one built like you want...corybarnhart@msn.com

You used the comment "made on the cheap", which implies the use of lesser materials in order to decrease price, rather than to build an exportable product...that was not "between the lines", but stated in the open.

I understood your statement, but not everyone understands why cuemakers won't export exotic materials....then they complain when they get a "red-ass" from customs.

I personally play with a Barnhart cue. I believe that you will really enjoy your purchase.
Sleep tight...

I was looking at this Hot Rod Barrenbrugge cue that Martin has, that's been there for how long? If that that had linen I already would have bought it. That's why I'm confused, he used to sell exclusively overseas?
Is there a password?

Ask him to change the wrap...problem solved.

Krisha, lizard is the same as EE so you technically cannot export it from us

I'm curious. When are YOU going to start following the rules of this section? Youy continually post in other people for sale threads and it's against the rules. Are you somehow above the rules? Do you get a free pass from the mods so you just post whenever you feel like it?

This is NOT a one time thing. Every day I see you break the rules and nothing happens. What makes you so special?

I mentioned to him that he is wrong section and answered his question. And why are you just asking me not other guys who posted in this thread.
You are one angry individual who is always barking at everyone here on az

I'm specifically calling you out because you do it almost EVERY day, MULTIPLE times a day, and completely ignore the rules.

I'm not angry, I'm just sick of people like you who completly ignore the rules to suit themselves. You have personally broke the rules of this section 8 times in the last 24 hours. And you ask me why I'm asking you? Seriously?

Well ihave absolutely no idea why the. Elephant ear was a problem and the lizard not but after all i think i will be more happy with the lizard instead of the ee :-)

Ps. Can a mod place this topic in the right section?
Kind regards

Muttonchops needs to be careful and make sure the seller guarantees the cue's delivery or full return of Muttonchops money....but nary a seller I've ever heard of would ever do that. It's completely caveat emptor by Muttonchops, or any other buyer, when they buy a cue with ivory or elephant ear wrap outside of the USA and have it shipped that cue into the States.

ICE & U.S. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife vigorously enforce the ban on endangered species and elephants top that list. Elephant ear is banned because it's harvested from elephants just like the tusks are and elephants & rhinos are shrinking in population every day due to poaching.

The reason why lizard wraps aren't an issue is that lizards are not on the endangered species list. However, elephants are the spotlighted species and if you try shipping a cue overseas or bringing a cue into the USA that contains any banned materials, like ivory or elephant ear wraps, the buyer deserves all the shit they encounter.

The law is crystal clear on this subject and so don't cry crocodile tears when you get busted and wind up losing your cue and/or money. It'd be like crying because you've been sentenced to jail for tax fraud..........duh? Whose tax return was it?????? Who bought the cue??????

There is no excuse for being just stupid or intentionally breaking the law!
