I have searched the posts for this. Is this material abs based or is it woven like a phenolic? I have not been able to find any information on this. Any help would be great.

i think it is inconsistent and too soft overall for pool cues.that is what i gathered when i read about it here,but i think the thread was locked down.

It is some sort of solid plastic. There is no base or reinforcement. I used it in one cue and really liked it but it is kind of pricey and now much harder to get. Atlas has the rod but not the sheet. I never tried it as a ferrule.

I have used it for many ferrules - it's great - no problems with it.
It buffs great and it does not get dirty, like ivory.

I have a banger that wants me to use ivory in a joint. I am having problems with that. This guy swings a cue like a 20 lb sledge. I am scared to use ivory 1 because I hate doing things twice and 2 it will probably cost me more money than it is worth.

Indian Stag Horn is what you need.

Buckhorn would be close.

Hi there,

Atlas is now carrying Elforyn (Rods) and the slates material will be availlable soon too. Also the new Material JUMA (a Micarta replacement).

We are using the material for almost 2 years now, as Joint / Buttcap / Inlay / ferrule material and it sure is far from any inconsistancy at all...

You can also use it to built complete cues out of it ... !!
