Ok, well my friend who owns the pool hall i frequent, turned me towards this new break cue from Elite Cues. So I took one for a test drive this weekend.
It has a CarbonFiber tip, instead of a phenolic tip and a large wood pin for extra control on the break.
I will say that I love the carbonfiber tip!!! It doesnt have the tink sound of the phenolic tips, and you can control the CB alot better too. And I found that I could get alot of power even on a soft break.
I normally break with a heavier cue something over 21oz's but this cue was 19oz's and I was crushing the racks, even when I wasnt trying. And on 9ft tables when playing 9ball, my break was amazing! Alot of times I would break and send 4-5 balls past the side pockets on a very consistent basis.
Now the other thing that is a good selling point is the cue is under 100$, now the cue is just a break cue, not a Jump/Break, but that didnt bother me.
The only thing I wasnt keen about was the linen wrap on the cue! I like the feel of not having a wrap, but after a while it didnt really bother me. And when I get my own Elite break cue, I'll probably just get a leather wrap put on it.
I will say that at the pool hall they've been selling so good, that the owner order'd 30 of these cues!
Several of the guys didnt like the carbon fiber tips, and just put a new ferrule and waterbuffalo tip on the cue and actually like'd the way it breaks better. But its personal opinion.
I totally recommend if you get the chance to try one of these cue's for breaking. I also added some pics here they are kinda crappy cuz i took them with my cell, but it'll hafta do lol.
