EMILY DUDDY Professional

I’m all for Emily having her day. I, like most of the world, had no idea who Emily was before the Hustlers tv show. Even then, AZB wanted to make sure Emily, along with some others on the show, weren’t given credit for a better game than they actually have. I’m not sure why any of us care how they portray their pool playing abilities. Pretty sure overstating your abilities is more common than understating.

Emily has found her way to a modest tv career and modestly known as a vixen of the female pro pool world. I can’t even find a backer for a $20 set at my local hall! I’m all for her success and hope anything pool related continues to make its way to the general public.

This thread has been, at times, disturbing. It should not be about Emily's speed as a player. She's not Jean Balukas or Siming Chen, both of whom were inclined and skilled enough to put fear into some of the truly elite men professionals. Yes, we all know the top men would very easily beat Emily, but so what?

Emily is one of the best American woman players, and that's not a matter of opinion. Emily has some top ten finishes in top level WPBA competition, including a 7th place finish in the Women's US Open. For those who've suggested that's not pro speed, you are uninformed and mistaken.

Emily Duddy is also a fine representative for our sport, generally cheerful, always well dressed, engagingly outgoing, and very supportive of her fellow pros, men and women alike. Our sport could do with a few more just like Emily.

Everyone has a right to like or dislike this show and to agree or disagree with its premise, conclusions and message, but this show placed pool on mainstream TV, and it made pool look cool and fun. Some ladies who watched will be intrigued about pool because of this, and some men may suddenly see the poolroom as a place to meet ladies as lovely as Emily Duddy and Jennifer Barretta. Time will tell.

For now, though, let's celebrate the attention that this show has brought to our sport.

Funny how she knocks guys for being sexist pigs while twerking her ass for all to see.

Calling her a pro is laughable and an insult to those women out there who can really play. If a dude at her level said he was pro speed, he would be ridiculed mercilessly.

just watched the show..did yall?
there is always a script
emily is not a high level pro
but I don't think that's the point

she obviously loves the game
and wants to be treated with respect
not as a woman pool player
but as a human pool player

why wouldn't we give her, or anybody else that?

there are a lot of different folks out there
from different genetics, places, walks of life
how we appear shouldn't define us
let the game we all play bring us together

Take a deep bow for this post. Let the game bring us together indeed.

If we are going to get all "politically correct", then I have a couple questions.

1. Would a guy with her Fargo rating be considered a "pro"?

2. If not, shouldn't there be a Fargo level that must be reached before you can claim the title of "pro"?

I seriously doubt she wrote the script.....let her make a living.

I watched the show and enjoyed it. Sure it was a bit contrived/scripted but if you are expecting anything else on TV you probably have an IQ below room temperature.

Congrats to Emily and the NYC crew for being part of the series.

She is much better looking without the makeup.

Meh. I'm an asshole for saying it, but this wasn't much of a "hard sell", if you ask me. Emily as a woman has never done it for me.

Now... Make Jeanette Lee into a convincing man, and you got something.

And.... That would have actually gotten a lot more non-poolplayers to watch.

(SJM... I apologize, man. I know you've prolly come to expect better from me...)

Bruh. I haven't seen it yet, as I am in Germany and don't get Bravo... But was it convincing? With some of her ways of standing, walking, heck... I can almost tell it's a woman in these pics alone. And I've seen her play at Derby, against a guy that gave her weight. I would think her stroke might be a clue, and she certainly does not have the stroke of a say, Jean Balukas. Put a bag over Jean's head, make sure the boobies aren't showing, and I'm not sure anyone would ever have pegged her as a female player. Jean had an all-around athlete's body, and from what I hear of her youth, she competed in a lot of different sports. All the pros at the time said she "plays the game like a man".

Emily does not.

And I agree with whoever said it above: Ladies don't get to call us sexist assholes, and then do all the duckface selfies and lingering in a bent over position on the table... Either you're equal, and should not be seen as a sexual object, and should act accordingly. or embrace it. Too many ladies want to have their cake and eat it too. I have known a few female pool players who are willing to "play the vixen" in order to win a few more games of pool. I don't have much respect for these types, and a woman trying to distract me at the table is quite likely to suddenly find me dropping into my very best game, and totally ignoring her.

I agree with this. It was entertaining. This is BRAVO not Accustats. Leave your fargo rating at the door.

Ok...true confession time....the only reason I knew about the show in the first place is because I watch the "Below Deck" shows:embarrassed2:

Ok, fair enough. She is attractive enough to have guys at the bar/poolroom trying to pick her up. I'd talk to her considering the cute factor and she can play some(much better than most women) she needs to break away from that retard crew she is hanging with, they are not "cool" and Finnegan is a fat pig! Jen B is sexy as hell but a terribly slow player who is unwatchable!
If there was ever a woman player I would want to watch all day it would be Jen B. The slow play makes it impossible.

Where was I? Lost all thought.

Below Deck was awesome! Lol. I think that boat was at the marina I lived at in Ft. Lauderdale.

What I find sexy about a female pool player, is if she is non-nonsense, and makes balls. Squash all that other female drama. I actually find Siming Chen more attractive than Emily.

I know, I'ma nutcase. But it's the DRIVE that does it for me, more than looks.

No woman pool player in history has had Jean's stroke.

She was a world class athlete. I was told by one of her friends that she was a world class basketball player, too. I learned second hand that Jean may have been good enough to possibly make the US Women's Olympic Basketball team in the 1980's had she tried out, but that she was ineligible because her pool career caused her to be considered a professional athlete by the IOC. This would not be the case today. I know first hand that Jean also sported a bowling average in the 190's, and I can personally attest to the fact that she could hit it over 300 yards in golf, for I played golf with her on numerous occasions.

I thought Emily was pretty convincing as a man, but agree with you that a world class athlete like Jean would have had an easier time of it, because her body type was more like that of a man.
