Emotional story-Ortmann Wins The World Tournament: Becomes Historic 3x World Champion

Appelton,Boyes and peach are alo double world champions, not all singeles titles though

Yes, I was thinking about those three too. But I didn't mention it cause one of their title is a team championships.

Litteraly, they all have 2 officials world titles.

I'm praying it's not sanctioned. What exactly did sanctioning do for us this year? How dare they take 5% out of my prize money... So what that it was only $35... I could've thrown that money in the street and gotten better value for it.

The WPA has always been about Europe (and maybe Asia, but certainly not America) and they failed miserably in even that. Where was Souqet, Engert, Otterman, Jentsch, Stepanov, AZB's own Tobias Hoiss, etc? Did we really pay all that money to this organization so that we could get Ortmann, See, Vandenberg, and Wen? Maybe I'm missing a few but not many. And Ortmann plays every year so we can't even count him.

Damn! I assumed it wasnt sanctioned this year. Why were they not advertising it as or calling it the World Straight Pool Championship?

The only reason i care about sanctioning is so that they will go in the record books and these players have some recognition in 20 years. Without sanctioning these tournaments will be lost in history very soon imo.

Your prayers may have been answered, Bob J posted in another thread that next year's added money requirement for WPA sanctioning is $75K!! I wrongly assumed (my habit of late) that $35k would do it for sure.

He played and won the Sarajevo 10 Ball Open on the weekend 9th/10th.

Was the Sarajevo event a WPA sanctioned event? I don't see it on their calendar, which I guess doesn't mean much given how bad their site is. Maybe we got to look at the federation calendars. On the WPA calendar the 14.1 event is listed as sanctioned, although not a ranking event. So if it was sanctioned and the Sarajevo event wasn't, why would Souquet be "allowed" to play in the Sarajevo event when this has been the Europeans excuse numerous times before for not playing in non-sanctioned WPA events? WPA sanctioning seems to be awful self-selective.

The Sarajevo open was sanctioned by the EPBF.

Wish I could have watched, but I thought almost $50 was too much to pay for the stream. It'll probably be that much or less on DVD, and then I can watch it multiple times. In comparison, the 3 day Shane vs Mika match is only $25.
