Encouraged by improvement in my game.

No, I'm not ready for the big boys just yet. And, I probably still couldn't hang with a vast majority of the people on this forum. But.... since getting our table last summer and putting at least a couple of hours a day (sometimes more, sometimes less) of practice in, I'm getting a grasp on some of the shots that used to keep me down. Until getting our table, I usually only shot pool once, sometimes twice a month for a couple of hours. I started shooting in an APA 8-ball league. I'm about to start my third session. I started out as a SL4 as per APA rules. Then I started having real problems with my "frozen" left shoulder (adhesive capsulation) in which I couldn't raise my left arm far enough to get down over the cue ball. I quickly slid down to a SL3. After shoulder surgery, therapy, and recovery I'm now back up to a SL4 and the way I've been shooting lately, should progress on up to a SL5 before too long.
The best part is that my shooting has improved enough that I've made a little spending money in our local bar tournaments lately. Last weekend, I won the tournament and this weekend finished third. Not bad for a semi-old, stiff-backed dude with two bad shoulders (rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder four years ago) and bad eyesight.
I'm to the point to where if you give me two times at the table, I very well might take you in a game of 8 or 9-ball. Three times to the table and it's definitely over.
It may not seem like much to many of you, but it's a huge improvement compared to where I was 6 months ago.

Ahhhh, the joys of aging, and it all sounds frighteningly familiar. Good luck with your climb up the ranks!

Way to go and stay with it. It can be a long road.

Whether your improvment impresses anyone else or not, isn't important. Stay strong and believe in yourself.
