Planning on a trip to Englewood, CO, Felt Billiards to be exact.

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a couple of good restaurants that an out of towner MUST VISIT.

If you want to include a side visit to some other entity like The Coors Factory (that's on the list), please feel free to suggest.

Also, what hotel would you stay at new Felt Billiards?

Thanks,
JoeyA

Are you coming with the family? Do you want to be close to Felt, or do you want to be in Denver? First time here, or is this a common thing? When?
And the hotel, something upscale or a bit less?

Mike Shanahan's steak house is not too far from Felt, off of I-25, very pricey.
Give me an idea of what you like and I'll find it.
Close to Felt there are some decent little places, nothing really gourmet.

Coming with three friends. Close to Felt is GOOD. First time in Englewood, CO.

Hotel, middle to upscale but want to be close to Felt.

Restaurants: Anything that might be considered "local", although I enjoy a "special favorite chain restaurant" as well. I just like to eat popular "local" food. Here in New Orleans, I tell people we eat red beans on every Monday and that kind of perplexes them for a minute or maybe a muffaletta, fresh seafood is right in there with local food. Married into a Cajun family and personally coming from a poverty background, there isn't much local food that I wouldn't try. I even tried some of Roy Steffensen's uncooked "holiday" lamb from Norway once. :D

Thanks,
JoeyA

I am not particularly a "gourmet" kind of guy but I will do that occasionally as well. I enjoy cuisine that is popular with the local culture wherever I go. When I was much younger while in Hong Kong, I went out to the local, outdoor markets and had a variety of soups that everyone seemed to be enjoying (without a table). That's where I learned how you REALLY eat soup. :)

Steakhouse 10 and Undici are right down the street from Felt. Best steak and Italian restaurants you will find.

I always forget about Udici's
It used to be called Fratelli's which wasn't that good, but Udici's is excellent.
Haven't tried Steakhouse 10, but the original restaurant in that building was very good for business lunches.

Steakhouse 10 is a great little spot..

Hit up Chris Byrne, and he can give you the
some great advice on some PHO spots on Federal..

West of Felt on Hampden (Hwy 285) in Lakewood there are some Hotels.
Those are hotels for instance that would be on the way to the Coor's Brewery in Golden, from Felt in Englewood.

If you want to try a couple my Ernie Martinez cues let me know when you'll be here.

Going down Broadway heading north are a couple of very local Mexican places. The first you'd come to is a place called El Tejado, probably not walking distance but pretty close. Killer breakfast on the weekends. Further north a couple of miles is a spot called The Blue Bonnet. For years this has been one of the best Mexican places in town. If you get to feeling particularly home sick, there is a little place called Lucille's, some really good cajun stuff for breakfast and lunch, down by the Blue Bonnet off Broadway. There are some of the better pizza you'll find in Denver up and down Broadway, a couple of my favorite placeses are Pasquini's or Famous Pizza (about 1st Ave and Broadway).
Up and down Broadway there are all kinds of little Motels, some of those I can't say I'd send my dog to, but you could easily get a massage and a happy ending at those.
I was thinking, and for me the closest I could think of is a Merriott Suites on South Colorado Blvd. This place would also give you reasonably close access to a second room, Rack'em Cue Club. Rack'em recently got new owners and have redone the tables. I haven't had a chance to get over there, but I've heard it's a new attitude and good environment. There is also a Merriott Townplace Suites at about 6th Ave and Speer Blvd. This is between Felt and downtown, about 3 miles north of Felt just off Broadway.
When will you be coming? Usually at this time of year some hotel space is at a premium. My wife just reminded me it's yeee-haaa time here in Denver - The National Western Stock Show is in town. Lots of cowboys, and cowgirls (in cowgirl pants.... yum yum), they can be a fun crowd.
Good Mexican and some pretty good steakhouses. Enjoy!!!

I would love to try a couple of your Ernie Martinez cues. I played briefly with an EM cue at least ten years ago and the hit was as good or better than cues costing many thousands of dollars.

Maybe I can take a look at one of the Google Maps and get a feel for distances. I suppose we will rent a car but haven't made that decision just yet.

Thanks!

Joey if the weather gives me a break I'd like to come down and say hi again I live about two hours away. Maybe this time we can try some on the big table!

Unless you change plans and decide to stay downtown and play just at The Wyncoop and Tarantula, you'll need a car. The transit system is ok, but it can be a little inconvenient. If you have a car, downtown isn't a bad idea, it's central to just about everything and many more accomodations to choose from, plenty of drinkin' stops, a ton of restaurants and just a few minutes away from Hanks, (in my opinion) a pretty good must see old time classic pool hall. It's undergone several name and ownership-management changes over the years but has changed very little over the years. Some of the better players in town have always frequented that place.
I've never been there, but I'm told if you come to Denver and want to play pool, your trip isn't complete unless you visit Zanzibar (downtown).
But regardless of where you stay and where you play, it sounds like a real good time.

I can let you try out the Mighty Lucasi and since you are not too particular on food we can go across the street from Felt to the King Soopers and get some noodles in a cup. They have hot water there and plastic spoons so we can split one. My treat.
And for entertainment we can go to the liqueur store next to Kings and buy a handful of Vodka shooters(you pay) and walk 2 blocks to Broadway and hand them out to the homeless guys.
Measureman knows how to entertain out of town guests.
