English Green Simonis

Bob,

Beautiful table and I agree, nice lighting. Could you tell me what exact color you used on your table?

Simonis 860 Blue/Green. I had to have some slate issues resolved recently, so I then opted for the "Simonis Green" shown in my avatar while the table was in pieces.

As the name would imply, a cross of the pure green of "Simonis Green" with a drop of Tournament Blue added. I just thought the Simonis Green better represented the Anniversaries I played on in my youth. I toyed with the idea of Tournament Blue, but was afraid that I'd eventually tire of the bright blue.

What the photo represents is an, as accurate as I can photograph, the actual shade of Blue/Green. I thought it had sort of a retro/faded pool room look.

I guarantee you didn't follow my recommendation...C'mon man. Admit this is your solution. ...Seriously, can you not see this?????????? I researched for months and I'm laying it out for you on a silver platter. I shall be very interested in your kind response...

Bob - your pool room kinda looks like a rubber room, possibly an appropriate place for you if this thread continues much longer. :p

Seriously, though, I envy that you have a blank slate of a room to turn into your dream pool room, if you choose. My basement ceiling is a little low and my space is limited so it is difficult for me to really create the perfect pool room.

I think fastone371 put it best. Sorta along the lines of an "Early Turkish Prison" motif....:D

This is getting to be darn fun! It's cold and drizzly here in Denver. Good way to pass the afternoon. Don't know if this guy needs an electrician, an optometrist or a psychiatrist.

They do have a color swatch book they send out for free it's how my wife and I picked slate grey. It was between that or the red.

Doesn't help this guy one bit. How dare you suggest an actual fabric sample would be in the least bit helpful!?

Perhaps a trip to the Simonis factory is in the offing??

Here's a thought. Let's all get together, rent a bus, and make a day of it?? :outtahere::outtahere:

After seeing the light above your table it is no wonder you want some bright cloth. Here is what I built from two LED light troffers from Home Depot. The color on this cloth is the tournament blue, plenty bright enough. The light cost me less then three hundred to build, less then the price of new cloth.

DCP, people try to help you and you are just plain rude.

I'm surprised that your parents still allow you to live in their basement.

Albatross,
There is nothing at all wrong with my lighting. I was just exploring different options to see if I could get it brighter.

LIGHTING, makes ALL-LLLL the difference in the world. it's the oldest & cheapest trick in the book (next to paint). in my showrooms, we hang as many lights as possible (whether we make them or they are props), and we run DOUBLE wattage in them, so that our shrms POP! we draw them in like moths....

if you can't tell the difference in color/tint/brightness b/w a flashlight, and 4 60W bulbs, on your table - then you have bigger issues than CHARTREUSE.

I nominate this for the post of the month. WTF?

Sorta like a left handed oxymoron.

Speaking of morons...

Glad to know I was wrong, good luck with your endeavor, may the billiard cloth gods open your eyes and let you see the light...

Aloha.

not to be confused with "peuse" - which is its (yellow) contrasting color & literally makes the eyes vibrate....
;)

BHR's suggestion on AUGERGINE, was valid. this pic is PEUSE, but an aubergine frame (a soft, dark, purple/gray), would compliment the chartreuse table perfectly & not affect the eyes. BTW, aubergine is coming back into style since 1993!

MORE IMPORTANTLY - what color CUES should he use? cause the jewel-toned skittles balls are already a given.

Only problem with the blank canvas or "The Turkish Prison Motif" is actually getting started on the blank canvas. I have most of my ideas set now and even went and bought the paint but I must cease "the playing of the pool" to spiff up the room. I just do not see that happening in the near future.:shakehead:

I like mine just the way it is. That shot was taken only a week after we moved in. So far, it's really deee-lux with two bar height director's chairs.

I keep it very neat, but I like the cement floors and walls. Don't have to worry about somebody smashing a beer on the floor, etc.

I've got a comfortable chair, it's heated and air conditioned, and a nice table away from the rest of the world. Who could ask for more?

I'm totally astounded at how level my table is now. Over two days and eleven hours they replaced a "waffled" foot slate and rebuilt it up from the floor shims.

What really surprised the heck out of me was that he didn't use a machinist's level. Just a two foot quality level, and a stretched out STRING!. I can't argue with the results. I've tried to find a bad roll, and it doesn't exist. So I guess there are other ways to do it.

It's so level, that they found my ten ball is slightly out of round. We couldn't figure out one bad area, and his helper said try swapping out the ball. All other 15 balls tracked laser straight on the same path. I finally got rid of those damn Olhuasen pocikets. He had some Brunswick NOS pockets in brown. It actually mimics the very early red pockets. No more rattling balls. Life is good. Yeah, this guy is some sort of real asshole. I wasted too much time trying to help him, also...

Made the decision a few minutes ago. Going with standard Simonis 860 in English Green. Hopefully will have installed by this weekend.

Just a thought, if you plan on leaving the cement floor (for the time being), you might want to put a commercial grade sealer on it. You know, kinda like the floor in a Home Depot.

This protects the cement from chips and is no big deal if you decide to install tile/carpet/flooring, down the road.
