Ernie Martinez cues

I live in the Denver area and there are a lot of his cues here.
I don't have one but have tried quite a few.
He makes a good looking cue like a lot of others but the one thing his cues all have in common is a perfect neutral balance.
They just seem to glide like they are not affected by gravity.
If you have a chance to buy one do it,the only problem is that they seldom come up for sale, that's how much people like them.

As a cue merchant and vendor of leather cue wraps I have had many years of straightforward business with Ernie. His cues appear to be very well made to me. I would not hesitate to buy a cue from him if I liked what I saw.

A friend of mine had a cue made a couple years ago by Ernie.
He told him roughly what design he wanted and during the build Ernie changed the design a bit and added some extras all with my friends blessing.
In the end Ernie hit it out of the park.
My friend said he just should have told him how much he wanted to spend, give a basic design and let Ernie have at it.

If it doesn't work out with Ernie you might try another great local builder Chris Byrne.
Chris builds a more fancy cue then Ernie if that interests you.

My Ernie Martinez hits great. It's a birdseye maple no points. Several people who have hit it have begged to buy it on the spot.
Not surprising at all.
I once played a long session of 9 ball with a borrowed Ernie sneaky Pete.
A true sneaky wood to wood joint ,no rings nothing as simple as can be.
Oh my it had that unknown Ernie magic and I tried to buy it but the owner said I let you play with it but you cant buy it.Rats!

Funny thing is whenever there's a thread about "your top 5 cue makers" which is every 6 months or so I don't remember Ernie's name being mentioned.
I guess there are a lot of real good local makers around the country that don't get wide spread recognition.

No doubt. Cody Cash in Wichita(PK Cues) is an up-n-comer who does really nice work at fair $$. Great guy to deal with. Straight-shooter, does what he says.

I get a good deal on one several years back and don't plan to sell it. Awesome cue; design, hit, workmanship.

Never hit or played with one of Ernie's cues. If you're looking for straight up great hit, and playability get a Jensen. Get one before Mike retires cause the price will skyrocket. He has been building cues since 1969 and is 78 now.

Got a message from Ernie... he's not taking any orders until he's caught up... didn't say when that would be.
I have one that I am thinking of letting go of. It is such a beautiful cue and p[lays just as beautifully. It is a 1996 cue with 6 points of Cocobolo and Purnumbuco and Ivory spears at the tips. The wrap was done by Ned Morris and he is a master at wraps. By far (in my opinion) the best in the buisness. I have 2 shafts, one never played with, both 13mm. The cue is 60" long and I believe it is 20 oz. PM me if you are interested!
