Ernie Martinez player's cue

Hello,

I've decided to sell my Martinez plain-jane. The cue has- I believe- a Bubinga forearm with a highly figured BEM handle, and Ivory ring. The cue has one 13mm SouthWest shaft, an Ivory ferrule, and a sniper tip. The weight of the cue is approx. 18.5 oz. The condition is about 94%- there are a few small dents/dings in the finish.

I don't know how much Martinez cues are worth, so please just make me an offer.

thanks,
-ShaneS

Does this cue come with 1 Ernie Martinez shaft and 1 Southwest shaft, or just 1 shaft.

I thought Ernie used 3/8x12 and Southwest used 3/8x11...

Nice cue BTW.

It is a 3/8-11. I'm only including the one with the black collar. It is a SW shaft.

Thanks,

WOW!
That is definitely a bubinga forearm.
Last I heard, Ernie quit making cues and sold his equipment in Colorado.
Definitely, a collectable.

Someone sold one on eBay on Christmas day and I almost won the bid for $250. The auction said it was slightly warped though...but still...nice price for a plain EM.

How much you looking to get for it?

Shorty

Last I heard was that Ernie's brother took over the business and Ernie himself became a baker.

That sure looks like the one that was sold on e-bay ,with one unmatched shaft for under 500............................................

Amazing those rings on your Ernie cue. My Ernie cue made while he started out at Showcase has rings that appear very similar to yours and everyone asks me if mine is a Southwest cue! Good luck in the sale. To get an "accurate" sale price, make inquiries among pool players living in the Denver area that serves as his home base.

Ernie is a really nice person, too.

That's odd Shorty. Just two or three months ago, you were in this same forum ripping some guy apart for asking $600 for a plain jane Ernie Martinez cue because "you had never heard of him" and thought he was an unknown. Now you want to buy one?

I see from your posting that you have an "Omen." An acquaintance of mine down here has an Omen and it hits absolutely fantastic. Even though he's from the east coast, as good as those cues hit, I am surprised that he's not more well known nationwide. The Omen I played with hit very much like a Southwest...is that how yours hits??

Of the two Pete Ohman's I've owned, one played so well that just about everyone that ever played with it LOVED it! Guys who played with Tim Scruggs, Paul Mottey, Tascarella, Dennis Searing and others loved the way that cue played. I sold it to buy my Paul Mottey. I don't regret owning the Mottey at all! Its my favorite and I'll probably never sell it. But I do regret selling the Omen. The second Omen I found at Valley Forge at Pete's booth. I must have spent half of Saturday hitting with it. Plain Jane cue. Just cocobolo with an ivory joint and silver rings but it was the nicest piece of cocobolo I've ever seen and the play was top notch.

I am amazed at the amount cuemakers out there that put out a product that hits as good as the high profile makers, but you never hear their names! I know of several in the Pacific NW, another one in Salt Lake City and a guy in Reno (to must name a few) that when you hit their cue - you reach for your wallet! I played about 2 hours, over 3 years ago, with that Omen and can't forget how well it played.

** I called Pete a few minutes ago and got a busy signal. My credit card was and is sitting right by the phone.:D

I should change my moniker from SirBanksALot to MoreMoneyThanSense!:)

Ernie Martinez Plain Jane

As long as I'm waxing eloquent - although I have not played with the Ernie Martinez that Shane wants to sell - a friend, whose opinion I trust, has hit that cue a lot and indicates that it is just "your typical sweet hitting Ernie Martinez." Since its an original Ernie - I would think it would be both playable and collectable!

DAMN--One of the early posts(#5) was positioning this to be a STEAL:rolleyes: Now it might actually sell closer to value. :)
