Ernie Martinez Status

A moderator has to make it sticky.

I got one

This is my first post to AZ. I found this thread and I just had to join and chime in.

I have an Ernie Martinez purple heart/ canadian rock maple hustler. :D

It is a great hitting cue. Wood on wood (invisible) joint. There is no ring work, or anything fancy, just wood and a 3/8 screw with a very small butt plate. I got it from him back in 97ish?(when I lived in Denver) for $250. I have almost lost it numerous times in pool halls/bars(from Detroit to Vegas). It is so well done that I have had Joe somebody, as well as well known players grab it off the table and try to use it as a break cue(I try to lay my cues on one of the tables next to me when playing). Joe somebody says "hey this is pretty nice house cue", player goes "oh I'm sorry thought it was house cue, till I picked it up", and they usually put it back down immediatly, and start asking questions about it. The biggest clue you can see is the ferrulle size. I usually have to break it down to prove it is not a house cue.
His name engraveing has lost the white color, so you can only make out his mark if you look close. I love this cue(warped shaft and all), although I am not currently playing with it, it stays in my case and goes wherever my Joss goes.

I got chills when I found this thread. The thought that Ernie is back, it's giving me chills now as a type, guess I gotta buy another Ernie.

Hi All,

I'm starting to get a few PMs as to Ernie's status. He's doing well and I'm told he has just finished the first 3 plain cues. I'm waiting for pictures and we will begin the fun. Yay!

With that said, will someone please help me with how I can make this thread a "sticky" one so it will remain on top?

Thanks, Dave

bump for pics....i would love to see pics. :D

are 2nd shafts going to be made available to us buyers?? how much extra?....

any custom cue over $500 should have two shafts IMO.....

Hi All,

I'm going to Denver to pic up the pictures today. They will hopefully be posted by end of Sunday (7/23). Thank you for your patience for the first three cues. I had mentioned that they would be around $600 but the actual price will be $575 + shipping costs. I will contact the first three on the list and the first one (Jazz) will have his choice of the 3, the second (Torquit) will have the next choice of the 2 remaining and next (Viperkiller) will get the 3rd. They are all pretty much the same cue so there should be no problems & the really good news is that each buyer can choose between 18.5 & 19.5 oz because Ernie left the weight bolt out. This is a flexibility of weight that I didn't think would be available.

Next batch I'm told will be a mixture of pointed cues and an assortment of no pointed cues. The pointed cues will come with 2 shafts (not 100%, but I was told this earlier) and again, the plain ones with 1 shaft. I don't believe additional shafts will be available for the plain ones initially, but you can ask again when you contact Ernie's business manager for payment & shipping info.

I'm really glad this is actually happening and very happy for Ernie & all those that are about to receive a "sweet" hitting cue from this talented cuemaker.

Here is the updated list.

Starting a NEW Thread for 1st Batch of Cues

Hi All,

I'm starting a new thread that includes the pictures and descriptions of Ernie's first batch of completed cues http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=417075#post417075 titled "Ernie's First Batch of Cues".

Ho (Jazz), Hanqing (Torqiet), & Viperkiler are the fist on the list - Jazz gets 1st pick of the 3, Torquiet next pick of 2 remaining & Viperkiller gets the remaining cue. They are all similar and feel great in my hands although I never hit a ball with any of them. Your choice of weight between 18.5 & 19.5. I will PM all of you with the contact info to get started. Please act as soon as you can since their are others that have to wait until the first 2 selections are made.

Thank you all, again, for your support and patience. I'm so excited!

Dave

now i have a question... as far as these first three go.. lets say like Jazz doesnt want a plain one like that and he wants to pass his along to the 4 person buying, then he would still remain on the top of the list for whatever comes next? if thats how its goint to work.. it will work out good because i am sure there are alot of guys further down that might want something more plain and some that want higher end.. i was waiting to see what they look like before having myself added to the list.. they are infact really nice.. but i am still unsure.. thanx and sorry about the questions.chris

We welcome you out of lurkerville and you're on the list #50. Now you have to participate in at least one thread (other than this one). ;)
