I can't wait to see it myself. The most INCREDIBLE thing about this year's Skins Billiard Championship is that the "case" games in several of the four-somes ended up being the BIGGEST money amounts. In other words, in the finals, it resulted in two players playing one game for $54,000. Talk about pressure! I remember seeing Santos' shirt between each and every shot shaking. He'd take a big swig of air before he bent down to pull the trigger. It was INTENSE!
Here's a shot I look of Santos out in the front lobby of the Resorts in Atlantic City, NJ, where it all took place. They had a table set up for the players to practice on, and of course, the curiosity of seeing a couple guys playing pool in the front lobby of a large casino attracted quite a few onlookers. In fact, I was told that the Resorts is the oldest casino still running in A.C. The way it was built is what separates it from the rest. The structure is hurricane-proof, very solid. Whenever there is a weather hazard on the horizon, folks in the area come to the Resorts to take cover. Well, at least that's what a casino guard told me. Maybe it's an urban legend.
AND I saw the actual doorway at the Resorts depicted on "The Color of Money" where Paul Newman, playing an older Fast Eddie, ran out and gave a loud "hoop" after he beat Tom Cruise a set in the tournament, the one that Vincent dumped.
It was a shame he wasn't able to make it this year, especially after he won the whole shebang the year before when the Skins Billiard Championship was was held at the Hilton Casino in A.C.
I'm not sure if he had a conflict of schedule or if there was another stumbling block, but Niels was definitely missed. Here's a shot of Niels and his lovely girlfriend, Katrina. They were both at the U.S. Open this year. Niels Feijen is always amenable to the fans, and he was gracious enough to allow me to snap their picture. Nice people!
I know i have the recording of last years skins program where he won it, i was hoping he could of took home the challenge of champions for 05 too but, oh well. Thanks again for the pic, btw, have you seen his girl play pool?
Thanks for the update justabreak. I'll miss House...but it's okay, since tonight's episode is a rerun.
Also looking forward to finally watching Manalo play on TV. Sure it was probably his worst tournament of the whole 2005 season, but i can't wait to observe his supposedly rock-solid fundamentals.
Also looking to see Santos kick some butt. Funny how posters here consider Santos as a second tier player among the Filipino strong. He maybe second tier among the Filipinos, but he's still first tier in America .
