hiya all,

soon its time for the long waited European championship.
finnaly the belgium players are descided. not what some would expect, as some couldnt afford/wanted/had a chance to get that many days off on there job etc to compete, but its still a nice team with some nice underdogs.

Jan DULST & Pascal BUDO & Serge DAS
= these 3 already have some experience in the eurotour, and EC. Ive seen most of them play and well they are pritty good :D

Stephen LAMMENS
= aka The poolkid. 14y old, and this EC will be a GREATH experience for him. He's one of our future poolstars so im happy to see that the board gives him this chance to get that much experience at that age.

Johan MONSEREZ
= probably one of my best friends in the poolscene and my mentor. First time he will play in the EC, he's paying for all everything himself, and i wish him the VERY best!! U go kick some *** johan.

Wendy JANS
= WBPA player and climbing up in the rankings. im sure she could do some damage there and u probably already know her

Thierry HOLLEVOET
= rolechair (that the word?) player. First time he'll play i think, and i hope he will get some nice results and experience.

Dimitri BAERT & Kurt DEKLERCK
= Rolechair players too. Deklerck made it to get on the last 6 participations to win 10 of the 12 possible medals in the european championship 8a nd 9ball. 2x Gold – 4x silver – 4x Brons. Dimitri is his training partner.

well thats it. I wish every belgium player the VERY BEST and i hope they enjoy the experience and maybe some nice wins. Gl to all from solly.

I met Wendy Jans at the WPBA tournament in Michigan City. She was very hospitable and showed real promise.
She had Allison but a difficult shot stretched out on the 8 cost her the match. We will see her in the TV rounds real soon.

WEELCHAIR:
not yet started

Notes:
- Several 100+ breaks have been made vs Belgium players, wich have costed any chance of qualification in the last 32 for some belgium players in the man section. The standard seems to be very high.
- Stephen LAmmes already has been spotted. they wrote about him in there news of day2. here is what Shirley Ang said about 'the poolkid'
- Serge das made it in the final 16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there he will fase reimering. a VERY though player. his chances will be small, but when serge is on the roll, he's a match for anyone!!!. Best of luck Serge from solly

"There is also a very young player from Belgium: Stephen Lammens. Only 14 years young and he's already participating in these championships. In 14.1, 8- and 9-ball. He started playing snooker when he was just 10 years old, at the age of 12 he played a pool-tournament for fun and from then on that was his big love.

His expectation for these days? Of course he hopes to get very far in the schedule and so does the whole Belgium team, but he's here to get more experience for in the future...

If you have more questions for Stephen or other players, let me know by mailing to info@europeanpoolchampionships.com."

me? :D u must be kidding sugabrownie.:p Im only playing in the national B rankings, not even A rankings. Every country gets a fixed amount of players who can go. and the board choses the players in function of there ranking/availability etc. Im currently ranked # 68 so i dont think ill ever get a chance to play in the EC.

about the cue, yes i bought one, cheap 40$ J&J :D its a VERY bad cue, but its MINE. better then having nothing. Ill probably get a custom soon, but needing the $ for other things for the moment.

note: i updated the results.
note2: check my under construction website C, hope ull like it

Serge das finshed the 14-1 EC, in 9th place
and Wendy Jans finished the 14-1 EC in 5th place.

so still good results. Wendy lost in the quarters vs the woman who won the woman 14-1 EC.

today 8ball time :D ill be writing those results too. Even if no one reads them :) its always a pleasure to write scores of belgium playerS.

All results, averages, flowcharts and statistics published

heres whats been written on the EC website:

"We received many e-mails with questions if we could make the statistics, final rankings, results etc. available for download. Your wish is our command, so check out the downloads section.

There you will find all information on the straight pool division, both men and women. Now you can see all the averages and high runs that have been made. Of course we will publish simular documents afther the other disciplines have finished.

Enjoy !!"

so for all those who wanted to know highest breaks etc. check the downliad page!!!

here some stats;
100+ breaks.

Ralf souquet: 125
Nick vd berg: 122
Ouschan Albin; 113
Ortmann oliver: 111
Facquet vincent: 109
heiskanen aki:100
majid imran: 100

funny fact, the lowest average score /inning was -0.17 from Stepanic Constantin. who finished the match with -1 in 6 innings.
the highest average score/ inning was 75!! from Ortmann oliver. who finished the the match in 2 innins to win 150-37 and was made in the FINAL vs souquet
Ortmann also has the highest pts/inning average over the whole tournament, with 17.5 balls potted / inning overal.

No worries mate. The coverage from www.europeanpoolchampionships.com is tremendous with comprehensive results, live scoring of every match and live video which is pretty good quality.

The results page shows the times of the scheduled matches.

Today (Thursday)....in about 8 hours, will be the semis and final of the 8-ball.

Well worth a watch for the other's who stumble into this thread:)

hehe :)

well the updates are for belgium players only. the website is indeed greath for all the news, but if im not promoting belgium players, no one will, and if it helps some USA guys/girls to remember some belgium names then my work is done here and im a happy man :) before i was here i dont think anyone knew a belgium name of a poolplayer.

linda; 100's? that would be my dream. im curently stuck at 3 racks. done it twice, and 2racks done it some 10 times or so. but im only playing for 0.5 years. so  i got all the time in the world.

i missed the finals :( could log into the lifestream, and didnt safe them :(
hope there will come a dvd out.

update on what happened with Wendy jans.

here is what is posted on the website.

Belgian Wendy Jans disqualified for the 8-ball dicipline

The EPBF has reached a verdict concernig the incident that happened in match 116 in the Women 8-ball division between Belgian Wendy Jans and Dutch Tamara Rademakers. Belgian Jans continued her visit at the table (trailing 5-3) though she didn't pot a ball. She went on winning the match 5-6.

The incident was concidered "unsportmanship behaviour" and therefore the Belgian player was taken out of the 8-ball competition. That means that Tamara Rademakers proceeds to the semi finals where she plays Daniela Benz from Germany.Jans is allowed to continue in the 9-ball event.

:( i have no idea what happened, but if this is true, then she loses one fan. solly. If there is anything i cant stand is unsportmanship. But i hope this will not make people generalise that belgium players are all like this. ill try to get some inside info on what happened. hear the other side of the story.

ok after getting more info from the national coatch , here is the whole story.

in a 8 minut marathon match, Rademakers missed a ball and left it in the jaws, Wendy combo's her oponents ball in the pocket, (pots opponent ball with her ball) and continue's to play. Both the belgium player and the dutch player didnt notice the fault. Wendy goes on to win the match, and the crows goes whispering. The referee hears the whispering and goes to check on the situation. The dutch coach explains the referee what happened, wendy dont remembers having made a fault ,Rademaker is confused and dont really knows what happens, happened. The referee is confused as well. After some talking back and forward, the rule 1.1 player responsability is aplied, and the referee descides radamaker had to tell wendy about the fault. As she didnt (neither noticed it with the touch desciding frame.. game was during 10minuts and it was 5-3 with first to 6.. stress etc), wendy got the frame 5-4, and kept going to win 5-6.

After the inscident, the dutch coatch descided to go further, asked for the official rulez, and descided to file a complaint, baised on unsportmanship. this would exclude her from both 8 and 9b tournament. Both coathces and players and referees assembled, and discused the matter, and the final descission is what i had posted in the beginning. Wendy is disqualified from the 8b tournament alone. Wendy says she didnt purposly continue to play after not potting a ball and dont agree's with the unsportmanship stamp she now has.

The belgium coatch is now looking into the rulez too, to file a new complaint...

something tells me this story is still not over.

personally, i agree in some matches u can make a fault without the 2 players noticing it. Example it happened to me several times, in a 9b tournament, where i played the 5 first instead of the 4. None of the 2 players noticed it, and only after the match a person watching told us. Calling this unsportmanship is a bit harsh. I guess this belgium-dutch derbie will never be over... it has lasted for centuries and is still lasting.. why cant we all be friends?

I do not know what happened and this is just my own opinion. I simply cannot imagine Wendy Jans being unsportmanlike on a pool table.

I had the pleasure of speaking with her recently, and Wendy strikes me as a person who takes great pride in her game and herself. I have watched Wendy played quite a few times on the WPBA; in my opinion, she is one of the most quiet and well disciplined player on the tour. She behaved as if she was in a snooker match.

Although I really do not know what happened, I cannot imagine her being labelled unsportmanlike in any tournament especially a big tournament such as the European Championship. I wish this is a big misunderstanding and that they will clear her name soon.

Sol, please keep us updated on this if you dont mind.

Thank you.

Richard
