The European Pool Championships starts today March 15th 2007 and finishes on March 24th 2007

8 Ball, 9 Ball, Straight Pool being played and many great players from many countries in attendance.

Last year the Live Coverage was very good with streaming video on a couple of TV/Web tables and game by game scores updated on the website as they happen.

This year they are playing in the Czech Republic.

Website is:
http://www.europeanpoolchampionships.com/

Go Ireland!! :)

Thorsten just texted me from there not 2 minutes ago. He is presently competing in the straight pool event.

Apparently in his second match he dogged it, 125 and out!

rg

Funny, though, they play for pride there, no cash prizes for the winners (other than invites to guaranteed money events like the mosconi cup etc.)

I am listening to Westen vs Lotfy online right now. There is no commentary, but you can hear the balls clicking and the occasional racking.

I now understand why sports radio stations don't cover pool. :)

if there is no commentary, how do you follow the action?
Are you saying that ALL you hear is the balls clicking?

rg

Yea. I only listened for about 5 minutes.

I'm watching a straight pool match between Christoffer Magusson and Vidar
Hakonarson at the bwin website. It's a video minus the commentators.

Thorsten Hohmann has played 3 matches, and made 100 or more in all 3... Last match he was 28 - 15 down on the tv-table, before he made 110 and out...

The biggest upset is that Ralf Souquet is out, losing 125 - -2 against Roman Hybler.

In the women's division the 3 best players, Jasmin Ouschan, Line Kjorsvik and Charlotte Sorensen is all doing well. Unfortunately they are on the same side of the bracket and will eventually meet before the final if they keep winning.

Regarding the live broadcast: It is not supposed to be just sound, so there has to be something that went wrong in the match against the guy from Iceland and Sweden :)

Yes, it is true that the European Championship is just for pride, there is no pricemoney at all! 11 long days with still more than 300 players from 38 countries battling out in 14-1, 8-ball and 9-ball.

The European Championship is however important for players who are sponsored by their countries, to do well and get further support, and it is important to get invitations to other big tournaments like World Pool Master, World Pool Championship in both 14-1, 8-ball, 9-ball, BCA Open, Mosconi, All Japan Championship +++...

In a couple of hours the single elimination in 14-1 will start.

In about 4 hours the draw for the 8-ball (start tomorrow evening) will be available at www.europeanpoolchampionships.com

The best of all for fans: the live coverage is brilliant, with ball by ball update in 14-1, and rack by rack in 8-ball and 9-ball, in all of the matches at all of the 24 tables!

I wish there was an alternative video streaming at least for semis and finals. Just like it was, at the EPC site. I understand that now it is at sponsor's, bwin.com. But last years when such live coverage started it was possible to record the stream from the computer. Now, when the streaming is still present, it is not only too small screen to watch, there is no possibility to record it any way. I wouldn't care if it was possible to buy these records later, but seems like no-one in EPBF cares.
Just imagine we wouldn't have seen Hohmann's crazy yet courageous shot which started his run in the finals of last year (or year before?)!

If any spectator is able to videotape the games (at least the final match) and share later, please do it!

I can't seem to get it on my pc. I probably need a new pc. Thiis HP is five years old.:( Johnnyt

Wow! anybody see Niels Feijen just miss a relatively easy shot up 113-0 on Thorsten?
it wasn't easy. Niels was deservedly punished for drawing the cueball to far to the head rail:

He had to go for that 6 because nothing else was on.
I was more surprized that Hohmann didn't run another 125 and out on Niels. No way I can dispute the way Thorsten approaches 14.1 but twice in a row he hit the pack way too hard when drawing back. Once he was lucky to avoid the pocket, but next time he scratched. In the corner on the head rail! Too strong a hit.

Live streaming this year sucks too much. Every match is interrupted with annoying screen like this dozen times. Imagine what I feel when it happens just before another break shot in 14.1!

And the video of Ortmann - Stepanov QF was far behind real situation, about 5 minutes or so. The score changed for one while the other was at the table. Pretty embarrassing coverage.
BTW Kosta Stepanov beat Olver and advanced to the semis!!! We have a medal at this EC already.

ouch, Feijen just opened the pack on his break shot and scratched

he almost scratched earlier on another break shot too

Niels Feijen did it again, for the fourth time the last six years

He won the GOLD MEDAL in the Euopean 14-1 Championship

In the womens division Jasmin Ouschan made a 75 and out in her first inning in the semifinal. In the final she scratched on the opening, her opponent did 30 balls, then Jasmin made 76 and out for the victory

Jasmins third 14-1 title in her first three tries...

Congratulations to both of them, well played!

where the **** are live videos now?**** bet and win with theirs small screens and **** them with no live videos now:p
