european vs usa looks preferences

well after reading and looking at alot of customcue's,
there is a real difference between the 2 continents about look preferences.

Here is a design i made for one of my customs. everyone i know finds it AMAZING, but im sure alot of people overseas prefer the more traditional looks.

over here, we prefere the darker woods like ebony etc.

anyway, what u think of this design?

i call it the eclipse cuz im a nightperson (working from 6pm till 5am) and i barely see the sun. i love it :p but i can imagine many here would find it to look to much as a cheaper cue with decals.


why is this difference? is because of the greather history of cuemakers in the states, or because of the popularity of balabushka's, runda's, etc. people prefere something that reminds them of the good old times , whereas in europe we dont have a big and long poolhistory, 90% plays with cheap (max 150$) productions, and therefore prefere the more cheaper modern looks? (even if i think my cue looks like a million bucks :D)

white (holy probably), light blue , dark blue veneers.

turqouise outlined with silver rings,

and my name with a funky font in... (sterling silver or ... something else). usually silver is pritty tin, and the name wouldnt stand out so much. so i might have to settle for something different.

i personally DONT like AT all cue's with this look :s where i know many oversea would give there arm and leg to have one :s

I admire the work, the sharp points, the craftmanship. i can see the forearm with ALL the different woods atached to it, ready to be turned etc. but i dont like the design. (im even scared to say its ugly, i might get banned for LIFE on this forum for saying that...)

Since you asked for feedback here goes:

I like the ebony and blue color combo on your cue design, good choice for venneers. Not crazy about the blue bands for the ring work.

Having said that:

Don't worry about what the masses think. You are the one who will live the with choices you make in the design. If you dig it, thats all that matters.

Nice work on the actual design template itself.

i know that in the states not many cue's use inlays with materials like red coral, turqouise etc. i find them very interesting :) i think they can enhance the colours of woods.

about the looks from others, i dont care At all :p one of the reasons why id like my name on the cue. if people put there name onthere cases, like everyone does on the jack justis cases, why not in a cue?
ill never be able to sell this cue with my name on :p

so do other agree with why i think we have different tastes? did balabushka and other set a trend that even 50years later continue to define styles?

ps the design is made in autocad and rendered there. nothing fancy, no 3dstudio, no aftereffects, just plain simple 5 minut work.
 
I think the forearm is quite striking. My preference for the butt sleeve would be thinner rings, nice cue though.
As with all things, some will love it, some will not, this is life. I think it's great that you have your own ideas, wheather or not they coincide with mine or someone else's isn't that important. Build the best cues you can, have pride, and enjoy the people who want to share your ideas. If you keep at it, you may develop a style people will recognize as your own. Good luck.
 
Looks beautiful to me. I wouldn't buy it for myself, as I do like the traditional look. But it's still a great looking cue. Very striking.
