My girlfriend, daugther, and I had to evacuate our house twice due to anticipated floods. Both times I called home and told them to get the cues in the car and then start working on packing up the house. Of course, if the guns had been in the house, they'd have been at the top of the list too. Looked kinda funny with all of our luggage and 8 cue cases in the car. As you may know, the first evacuation didn't result in any flooding, but the river kicked our butts in the second one. Got everything out of the house, including the valley 7' with new tight rails we had in the basement. In a year or two I'll be able to buy a park bench and put it where my house was.
For the critics in the group, we were well protected behind levees, but the predictions from the corps went from a manageable near-record flood of10,000 cfs to a devastating 29,000 cfs in two days. There was 5-7 inches of rain over our reservoir. We had no chance. It blasted any recorded river stage out of the water so bad, the old 1881 record looks like a babbling brook.
