What's the secret to this shot? You tell someone you are going to make the 8B in the side pocket without hitting the 6B.

I hit it with a ton of right english but I cant quite get the CB to come back enough to pocket it into the side pocket. I saw this shot on one of Bob Byrne's DVDs years ago. I just seem to struggle with it.

Thoughts on how to execute this shot posters?

Try it with less side spin. For a full shot like that at slower speed, about half of maximum side spin gets the most transferred OB spin. You may need to use even less when hitting it hard enough to go three times across.

And of course no top/bottom.

From memory: Gearing, CIT, CIS, fresh conditions, and linear med hard stroke.
Also: new old style cloth and live cushions.

It is best played without any spin on the cue ball as Pat mentioned. Place the cue ball so a half-ball hit on the object ball makes the shot. That is about 9 inches away with both balls exactly even with the side pocket. The OB is in the exact center of the table.

OP asked about the trick shot, but if it was just 8 ball, that's not a real difficult shot to follow the 8 in after the solid.
