EXPO....day 1

Well the wife and I just rolled back home after a long day at the Expo. We saw everything twice AND:

>Sweated our buddies matches....some good some not....all positive.

>Walked past tons of celebs, and none of them asked for my autograph

>Got Nick Varner to sign my case......very cool guy.

>Watched the pit with Lil J & Mr. Kirkwood going 10 ahead 10ball for $3...basically even after a few hours

>Found my next cue at "Norwela" cues...never heard of them...stands for north west Louisanna cues. The owner is a great guy and builds some sweet traditional cues for which I have a weakness! the cue is a very nice Szamboti look alike......thanx Honey<<<<my wife lets me get toyz.

>We drank many beers, ate too much, and ran into John Bender who is now building cues and has my order for one.....#43 of his.

>Met a bunch of nice people and were gonna do it al again in the morning!

Now that it's morning, and my brain is working again, I forgot to mention one strange part of the Expo. There were maybe 4 booths selling custom cues, but only had around 8 to 10 cues out on the table? I guess they are looking to book more work, but the spots are $800 each.....a high price to pay with limited stock IMO...

There were a few new products out too. I saw a round rack!...I guess for playing 7ball? I didn't check it out. I spoke with a guy who was marketing a cool new hand held bridge that just might go into my case. Lots of cases and tee-shirts, all kinds of lazer aiming trainers, and all the mags were there.

It's a nasty sleeting/snow/rainy day here....which is perfect for going to the Expo!.....

Oh Yea, I forgot, I wasn't there 10 minutes yesterday before a little dude maybe 13 comes over and asks to buy my It's George case (mine is grey Eel skin). He was with a "mini demo squad" you know, the next group of monster players.....they were cruising around looking for action....it was cool!

Hey Gerry I don't think Lil John played Kirkwood yesterday that I remember. If you are talking about the blonde kid wearing the Brown tshirt that is Matt and of course I forget his last name but he runs around with the Painter. They played the first set for 3.5 large bags(the best I could make out) and Matt took it down. Then the painter and lil john started barking but Painter would only bet 1.5 bags which Lil John didn't seem to like and before you knew it turned and lil john and Matt matched backup with Lil John getting the 8 for 3 large bags. Matt took that down also and I overheard Painter telling some old timers that Matt has another gear above were he is playing.

Lil John was barking to get anyone to go over to the new room that opened up to play on a 9' don't know if that ever happened or not. I do find it amazing that Lil John lost all those bags and he and his backer were still looking for more action and willing to bet high.

Unknown, while at the bar we were discussing the game and the consensus was it looked like they were playing even with no weight, and battling back n forth. I only saw the first hour maybe and witnessed a 4 pack by each player....thats strong playing 10ball. They still might be playing right now!

Maybe Lil John and Kirkwood matched up later last night because I was upstairs wacthing a buddy playin his match then I grab something to eat and went to my room.
