Extra long shaft? please help

Hi I was wondering what it would cost and how long it would take (and maybe if someone would do it) to make an extra long shaft for a bluegrass cue (made by Richard Harris) with RH's specs. I have already talked to him; he says that longest he can go is a little over 29.5" which doesn't seem worth it. I'm not exactly sure what would be, if I decide to go this route I would want to talk with that cuemaker about what length would be best, considering balance, weight, my height and wingspan etc. I'm just trying to figure out all my options here, i'm not even sure If it would really help me to have a longer shaft...
slightly confused,

Just how long are you thinking?
I can build for you a 31"+ Gen.1 Predator shaft but I'm not going to give it away. I'd need to see the ring-work and get some pertinent specs. Sorry, I'm not going to go through the wing-span measurements, etc. I'll leave that to the cue-tailors. Tell me what you want and I'll build it.
If you're interested, PM please.

Here is a 32" shaft waiting on that special customer.
I dont know what RH's taper profile spec is but I can almost garentee you this is not it.
This taper is a modified Southwest profile and hits on the stiff side ... however being that long it should loosen up a bit.
Wont know how much until it is fitted to a butt and shooting on a table.

I would sudgest you get the plain black ring to save cost and try it out.
You can always have it replaced with a matching ring by RH if the shaft works out.

is the 29.5 inches including the ferrule and tip? cuz if not u can easily add an inch just from the ferrule alone. also, if it's just a shaft blank, the collar or ringwork will also add additional length to it.

FYI - neither of those add any length to a shaft.

long shaft

Please send me an email at: triplecrosscues@yahoo.com
with all the information you can regarding this extra length shaft. I've made them as long as 36" for wheelchair players. Yours most likely will be shorter. Glad to discuss special needs.

Man Tom are you turning that on a driveshaft lathe?? LOL 36"= long shaft Keep up the good work.

Hey Rocketman,
Well whatever works. I like to discuss the difficult projects and meet players needs. When a wheelchair player can't reach shots they are even more at a disadvantage. You should have seen the look in his eyes when he tried the extra long(36") shaft. Now he's running four's and five's at a time and moved his skill level to an APA 6 from a 4 in less than two months. This kind of approval makes the extra effort worth while.
Hopefully we'll be painting the car this week or next depending on the humidity and the storms.

Not normally, but it can. Just drill and bore and add the tenons like you were doing a repair job.

i am assuming Richard isn't setup to make 30" shafts, but he might just not want to.i have tried a few over the years and without fail they made the cue play worse imo.i think if you have a shaft with a very stiff shaft taper,it is OK ti make the shaft shlightly longer, maybe 1/2",but when you start getting into making shafts 1"+ longer than the butt, they seem to adversely affect the way the cue plays.

this is only my opinion so please don't flame.i just don't like adding a long shaft to a cue.Richard might not either.
