I caught onto that right away Jimmy, maybe the earlier nature of this thread has everyone on edge a little?

I have had several questions posted to me in emails and other venues about the IPT. I do not respond to these because I run the qualifiers that are held at Capone's in Springhill. I have been asked questions about the IPT and asked what the pros think. I cannot answer any of your questions. I have read all but understand I am just running qualifiers for my friend and room owner Rocky. I have nothing to do with the inner workings of the IPT. When all this came about I sat back and watched. I have met KT and he was very polite and nice to me. I think his intentions were good but maybe, like some businesses things just didn't work out. I don't know but I do know that this business between the players and the IPT is between them. I think too many people have stuck their noses in and spread so much bs that all the information has gotten blown out of proportion. I feel for the players and I know most of them and I was hoping that all this would work out for the best interest of the billiard world. But as we have seen in the past there is so much bs that it has a hard time getting its head above water. Too many cooks spoil the soup. That is what happens when people that don't need to be involved or has nothing to do with the situation stick their noses in. I wish all luck in getting their money and getting things straight.

You are right there has been a lot of BS but it has come from the IPT and KT. All most of the people on here have tried to do is sort it out and find the truth. Make no mistake, without the pressure being applied by whoever, the players would probably not be getting the checks they are now. This is like a lot of things in life, sometimes people don't recognize who their real friends are. It is pretty clear the IPT won't work and it became clear to KT and his crew I am sure a while back.

All they had to do was just put on the brakes, instead of holding another tournament. If they just did that they would not be where they are now and may have even reorganized it and took another shot with a better business plan. I think and I am actually certain of this, that many of the players that are still backing the IPT are hoping it will continue and there will be the chosen 150 and the guaranteed, even if not the $100,000 promised but they are still believing they are part of something.

If the IPT continues in some kind of form, the "stable of player" system will have to be scrapped for an open tournament format. There will be no more IPT members so to speak, the IPT will become tournament promoters and not try to emulate the PGA or anything else. I do believe their qualifier system is good and it has proven that players will enter if it is worth it. Picture this.

Open tournaments with $750,000 to $1,000,000 prize funds. The only way to get in is to qualify for say a $250.00 entry fee. You hold four tournaments a year. Here is the kicker, it has sort of a king of the hill element to it. The top 16 finishers in the tournament automatically move on to the next tournament without having to qualify. As long as you can finish in the top 16 you never have to qualify. They do that along with all the other tournament things to generate income, TV what ever. You would have pool buzz in the pool community continuously since qualifiers will be going on almost continuously leading up to the tournaments.

The interest could only build and I am certain it would draw sponsors because the advertising would be so on going and not just hit and miss. This is just one idea that could be good I am sure there are others. The IPT didn't do a bad thing, they just did what they did badly.

Just a couple of questions:
1) Would there be limit to the size of the field and if so what would it be?
2) Would you like to see it remain a round robin format or change to something different?

Thanks
Steve

I think the logistics of round robin for an entire tournament don't work. It requires to much to complete the tournament. I like double elimination or even single elimination with multiple sets like tennis. I played in a tournament in Holland if I remember right, that was single elimination up to the last 16 then a redraw and we played sort of a new tournament, DE. They had 360 players and got it played, I finished 6th by the way.

There are so many way to play that can work as long as the people in charge are business people who can work to keep the thing out of the red. The truth is and this is the most important truth is. To not try to compare what pool is to other sports, pool is unique. Pool isn't golf or tennis or basketball and it doesn't have to be the next flash in the pan for it to be a success. Pool is not a fad, it has a huge fan base and millions of players play.

It has a nitch market that can be tapped if gone about in the right way. Once established it would be long lasting . Something Like I described, even at my age would have me practicing again for a chance to take a shot at the qualifiers.

The qualifiers themselves have to be cash tournaments as well. There needs to be something to be won even it you don't win one of the entries. Pool could be a year round happening sport with something always to follow and talk about. I do believe there are sponsors out there that have not been tapped that could be brought in.

Jake, didnt you ever learn that if you can't say something nice, than you should refrain from commenting, particularly if your remarks are thoughtless, INCENDIARY, and for the purposes of nothing more than to start trouble?

Might i ask, why you would continue with such bold negativity at such a time of incredible crisis for the ipt's pro players? You are posting on a billiards forum afterall, and it is evident by your postings that you don't care about them at all. So why bother coming here and contributing useless points of view.

I would have thought that you would have learned your lesson from your most recent vacation. It is one thing to have a differing opinion. It is quite another to have a position based solely on the intent of confrontations.

I applaud the moderators for taking steps to "clean" this board up by taking out the trash. I think they are halfway there.

I respectfully ask them to reconsider the concept that some of these guys are capable of reforming. It is within your powers, and certainly your perogative to change one month bans into lifetime bans. It is also possible to hand ake his walking papers, too. (as a suggestion, just view jakes recent posts since returning to see if there is even one sentence, let alon an entire post that is constructive)

I think this remedy would go a long way towards returning this forum to an enjoyable place to visit.

thanks

A "new" troll, here to stir the pot.

Perhaps you should review jaspers posts, and related threads to see the anguish he caused to other forum members and ipt pros. His sole purpose here was to cause trouble, and he is now banned because of it.
