eye/perception/wtf problem

Hey guys - Long time player, solid but not great. Never been a great shot maker, which has hindered me because the rest of my game is pretty good.

I shoot right handed, and I am right eye dominant. I recently started looking at shots through my left eye, like actually turned my head to the right to pretty much take the right eye out of play, and I am making EVERYTHING.

Is this trying to tell me something about my stroke, alignment, etc that I should fix, or should I just keep doing what is working?

Hi there :)

From that what you wrote i would recommend to keep it going. If you feel comfortable, and you see *the straight-line* you right on cue :-)

You usualy always see with BOTH eyes-even if you have one dominant eye! For sure there are helpful points which Geno (Perfect Aim) teaches to his students and also qualified instructor can teach and tell you about ligning up correctly. But the key is, that YOU find the position for YOUR eyes where the *straight-line* appears and that it works for you.

From my side i just could say: Congrats, that you find your comfortable and workin position on your own naturally!

keep shooting,

lg from overseas,

Have someone take a picture of you head-on when over a shot and post it here. Your issue sounds really close to the prob I had.

You are probably left eye dominant.......

You are left eye dominant my friend. By moving your head over to the right you are putting the dominant eye(your left eye) in the correct position to see the shot correctly.

You were probably shooting left eye dominant all the time but by moving it over just that little bit ,which probably feels huge, you can just see the shot better naturally.

It's pretty hard for someone that is left eye dominant to shoot with the right eye as the dominant eye.

Give me a call and i will help you understand how all this works.

It sounds like you are on the right track.

Disclaimer - I'm not an instructor and pretty mediocre - but here's my two bits. Sometimes when I'm down on a shot and fine tuning my aim I perceive two cue sticks. By focusing down on the joint and then following up to the tip my aim then 'snaps' to the proper line and I see one cue. This helps me in making the shot. I noticed this when drilling long straight-in shots. I can miss a half dozen shots to the exact same place, I think because I'd just see the wrong line. Weird, but that's how my eyes work.

azbluemach1...I thought you were going to seek out Jerry Briesath, in Phoenix?

azbluemach...I'm not relentless at all. Either you are looking for help with your game via a professional instructor, in Phoenix...or not (you posted here that you were, and I steered you to one of the best). Truth is, if you're not willing to invest the time and money needed, Jerry will be a waste of your money, and his time. I absolutely said do not try to make any changes prior to a competitive event.

Lol - your relentless.

I posted this prior to my posting looking for an instructor.

Besides you said I shouldn't mess with my game prior to the tournament this weekend.. :)
