Fake Schon on ebay???? Or is it real????

Just checked the listing out again. I think he revised it. I think he changed the wording around alittle. I think he had before that schon was around since 1967 or something I think that was the listing I looked at before ,, now it says his company name was around since then. Some billiards company I guess. I still dont think it is a schon at all..He never respondes to my message ,,so I think he is trying to hide something anyhow so he knows <<<.ED

I'd bet a dollar to a donught that cue is fake and probably a turd. Date's are wrong, block letters are wrong. name on the shaft is wrong. And the design looks more like a bad gina copy than an early Schon. Have they ever used the word Schon without the Umlaut... ö
who knows, maybe this guy just doesn't have a clue and is not intentionally trying to mislead bidders. I usually and in general try to give people the benefit of the doubt but it's getting harder and harder. Plus his lack of response to mine and others questions leads me believe he's intentionally misrepresenting the cue.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that cue. Gina copy, with the crown points. I've never seen a Schon with crown points. I have only seen a couple Schon cues without a steel joint. This cue appears to have a Meucci type joint. Apparently those letters were transfered on with one of those lettering kits. I remember seeing fake id's with that same kind of lettering.

~~~~~Caveat Emptor. This guy needs to be kicked out of ebay. I think all the bidders should be warned as well as ebay.
I would very much like to hear the response from Evan posted here.
This cue is one of the worst fakes I have ever seen.
Have any of you reported the auction?
You can report him and I guarantee you that if enough of us do this enough times he will be banned.
The only way to clean up Ebay from idiots like this is through community action.
On the right side there is a button to report listings. Click on it and report it.
I did.
I didn't know that. I will too. I agree with you 100%. Thank you John.
We should start a sticky like the stolen cues one except to collect pictures and info on fakes as another reference to protect possible future buyers.
two ways you can tell it's a fraud besides the lettering. The letters are raised on the butt cap instead of recessed and the shaft has the same logo.
A shame what some people will do.
YEA ! I reported it yesterday, but I didn't get any kind of a response back yet. Listing something like that if you are even alittle in to cues and billiards you know that that is not a real schon. And this guy is supposed to have a billiard store and be one of the best ,,so he says <<HUH !! I hope he doesn't get to rip somebody off <<ED
The only response you can get is to check the box that tells ebay to send you a confirmation of your submission. They won't respond to you beyond that.
They basically evaluate the claim and decide how to proceed - I don't know this for sure but I bet that multiple claims triggers action.
UPDATE
This is the response email I received from Evan Clarke from SCHON after reporting and forwarding the auction to him.
Hi Duane. This is from about 10 years ago when a scumball tried this trick and I was able to throttle them. This poor guy got ripped off and I have informed him..Thanks..Evan
Goes to show you that sometimes the seller can be the victim..........
Well... he sure told me! Here's the sellers response
My question:
"How's the sale of this fake Schon going? I'm not saying you're misleading bidders intentionally, you may just not be "in the know" but that is definitely NOT a real Schon. Date's are wrong, block letters are wrong, wrap is wrong. logo on the shaft is wrong. hmmmmmm"
His response:
"I am only as sure as the man who lost it in a match. He had been playing with it for at least 5 years I was told. I am not 100% sure as in most things in life I did not buy it from Evan Clark myself. There is nothing else to say I am not mirepresenting it. The name on the but plate says SCHON If you want to bid go ahead it looks to be about 10-20 years old in excelent condition."
well there you go. Bid well and prosper :D
I talked to Bob Runde earlier today, they have always used the same template for the name. They did stop putting the dots over the o in the mid-80's. This cue is a fake...
I got the exact same response.
I responded back saying:
If you can tell it is 10-20 years old, you must know cues. You
should also know that this isn't a real Schon, much less a
collectible Schon. Multiple people have reported this fake Schon
cue to ebay. It says Schon on the buttcap and the joint collar,
but it is not a Schon. Any pool cue dealer or expert should and
definitely would know that.
I get the feeling this guy already knows what he has and he is just out to make a buck. How can ebay let him continue on with this sale? I thought Evan was on this?
I've reported it several times and had friends with other ebay accounts do the same thing. So far nothing. 250$ worth of bids so far. someone may get the proverbial "shaft" on this one...
