The following demonstrates a false auction on Ebay for my cue by a liar and would be thief. This person has stolen my pictures and description. The worst part is that my real auction hasn't even ended yet.

It could be a case of a stolen username, who knows?

I have emailed the two bidders on the false auction and then immediately came here to inform everybody. I will be emailing the would be seller and Ebay shortly.

ugotda7,,,hope you have better luck with eBay than I have had,,,nothing seems to ever be done about these scammers,,,IMHO, you have someone who has 'borrowed' ericandeddie's i.d. and your pictures...email the cretins, tell them you have a brother in their area and he would like to look at their cue,,,usually scares scammers away !!

Apprently the Policia De E-bay shut down the Phoney.... ;)
 
glad this bunch of scammers are gone for now, they'll be back,,,I do all I can to police the 'cue' section of eBay...have caught and booted too many of them, I've been a little lax lately,,,,, glad 'ugotda7' reported them, 'cause I missed that one,,,think I've caught their their actual web address though !,,,know how they got some i.d.'s and passwords too !

The new mail system is helping a lot. Beware short auctions of high priced cues and all "second chance offers".

I had one asshole accidentally send me a second chance offer on my own cue!!!

eBay won't admit it, but their system is full of holes,,,everytime I bid on a high dollar item ($1000 & up) and don't win it, I immediately get a second chance offer from some clown who usually doesn't know enough to accurately describe the item,,,they use lots of weird methods,,,latest was their eBay i.d. had been changed and to please contact them at their new email address,,LOL,,,last year I had the high bid on a '65 vette convertible,,,story on it was the car was in Paris, send them $5000 now and they would split the shipping cost back to the USA,,,I emailed them with the relatives in Paris story and they disappeared before I could get back to the eBay site.

,,have been in touch with eBay (email and by phone...yes, phone!),,,all they give me is an answer out of their training manual which answers none of my questions,,,,have requested a supervisor or someone farther up the ladder with no luck !,,,It's up to the consumer to be ever vigilant,,,crooks around every corner,,,a lot of the eBay scammers are new that day, zero feedback, 3 day auction, pictures are out of a sales brochure (none of the actual item that they don't have anyway),,,& not knocking YaHoo, but most of these scammers can be reached directly (not thru eBay) by simply adding @yahoo.com to their eBay i.d.,,,,

when I find a lot of these fakes (they tend to run in packs) together, I check the bid history and usually find them bidding on each other's cues,,,try to get that idea accross to the eBay dummies, it's almost impossible !,,,,they tell me to notify them under 'shill bidding' and I tell them it's not a group, it's one person under several different names and they should check their info from when they signed up,,,it's frustrating,,,why do I even worry,,,I'm retired and running a gameroom,,,not my problem,,,,BUT eBay surely ain't doing a thing !!!!!!!!!!!! beware of the scammers !!!!
 
The 2nd offer scam's pretty common. A friend of mine bid on a SW once. The day after he lost the auction he got an email for a 2nd chance to buy the cue. The price was extremely odd (why would someone sell a SW for 1600?) and the guy has no real knowledge of what he's selling so it was pretty easy to identify it as a scam. If you're going to buy something off ebay, its probably good to buy from an established seller with a good track record you can see. If you're buying from a some what new seller, its probably best to ask for a phone number or insist on using a secure trading method (ie. escrow or Paypal if the amount's withint their limit).
