How come AZ billiards didn't have more coverage or results of their tournament this last weekend..? Good turnout of top player and some great pool. Won by Oscar Dominguez... West Coast Bias ?

I find if you send Mike Howerton results he put them on azbilliards. You can't expect them to go out and cover these events. All it requires is a tournament director to contact him or Jerry and provide the information. He goes beyond the call of duty in this regard.

This was a fairly significant event for the West Coast. I think the folks at FB would have found a warm reception for a short article, a list of winners and payouts and maybe a couple of action photos (preferably anything other than the traditional "Grip & Grin" of the winners receiving the payout).

Frequently your best shot at some decent PR is doing a little work yourself.

Family Billiards

I stopped by for a few hours on Saturday night. There were definitely some great match ups. Scott Frost was playing Oscar when I got there. Oscar was shooting lights out and Scott looked like he was still adjust slightly to the tables. Pickering (forgot his first name) from Canada was also playing some great pool but ran into a brick wall with a local player who beat him something like 8-2.

Stan Tourangeau, Ernesto Dominguez, and Dan Louie also came down to play. Not sure how they did but Stan was shooting good. Dan was in the back on the pool room matching up I think.

George Michaels, Dante, Kenny Koo, and a few of the regular heavy hitters were also in the house. Hugo showed up later in the evening to get in on some after hours action. They were playing 1P on the front table with Frost looking on.

It was a really nice tournament but could have been bigger considering the payout. Some obvious shooters MIA were Billy Palmer (heard he hurt his back), Jeff Gregory (got sick after winning the USPPA event in Reno), Marshall, Carl Wilson, didn't see any of the girls (Rakin sisters, Collado sisters, etc..), Colin Mazika, and a few others.

Next week is the World PPA event at California Billiards. I'll try to do a write up if I don't get stuck working. I also heard the 3 Cushion Championships this weekend at Edgies in Milpitas. Dennis Dieckman is rumored to be coming and selling some 3C cues. Edgies does have some South American Champs that play 3C out of that room. And a TON of Phillipino players for anyone that wants action.

The action at Edgies is tough. All the filipinos are lock up artists, if you beat them one time, they want a big adjustment. ALL except for Deo, who is in the PHILLIPINES at the moment. Cmon, you guys, stay out the cardrooms and play some pool.
