Matt doesn't have any downside in this deal...Chris ships the case to Matt, once Matt receives the case he calls me at the DCC and has me deliver his end of the deal to Chris. No case, no deal...

Hopefully this will give Chris an opportunity to to start building a better reputation.
I guess the question is. "An opportunity to start building a better reputation to do what....."

You may walk away with a deal here. The next unsuspecting victim may not be as lucky. I am sorry but i have to say this. People like this should be not be allowed to make a transaction in any way any where. If possible they should be tagged with a huge warning sign or something. And people trying to grab a good deal on pretext of giving him another chance is indirectly aiding him.

You know...if the guy is willing to send his end first, what risk do really have??? Matt and Chris are simply trading goods, and it does not seem to be a "one-sided" great deal for either party to me. My suggestion is...if you are wary of doing business with someone, then don't.

So far all communication with Chris has been excellent and I should receive the case tomarrow according to the tracking info he gave me right after the case was shipped. As long as it is in the like new condition that it is supposed to be it will have been a flawless transaction. I'm really not sure where other peoples deals went wrong.

Generally I find that some people are too trusting of people that they don't know or haven't done deals with before and don't do enough to protect themselves. I have done many deals and you get better at it as you go. I've been taken before with products that I felt weren't really described as good as they could have been but I just chalk it up to lesson learned an don't do busissness with that person anymore.

I also feel that you really should have no input unless you have been involved in a transaction with Chris. Don't misunderstand me I am not sticking up for or even saying what he did in the past was right or wrong but the only people hurt were Chris and the parties involved in the transaction. If you weren't involved why should your opinion matter. It definately has no bearing on my transaction with him.

There are usually three sides to every bad transaction.

1) What the seller says

2) What the buyer says

3) The truth

Anyway best of luck to all with all transactions out there in A-Z land and remember nobody's gonna cover your azz but you!

I'm glad that your transaction w/ Chris Chance went flawless....I think you can't blame others what they think of ChrisC after the previous transactions....I thought this forum is all about to watch everyone back right?...So i guess i can't blame them at all of what they think of him....I'm just glad that he is the man of his words with his transaction with you. I admire your courage to deal w/ him ...but for me i think i have no courage to deal w/ him anymore...ever...just my opinion about that person :)

There is no point in arguing over this. You are either missing the point of choosing to ignore it.

People should to be wary of this guy. If your transaction goes well for you then good for you. You are just another positive credential to serve his purpose.

I am sorry if you do not like my opinion and thinks that it is none of my business. But i buy stuff and occasionally sells stuff here. And it is people like this that makes my skin crawls. And you can only be that careful in a transaction. Alot is still taken in faith. If a person is out to scam you, you really have very little protection.

when is it ok to get involved?

Something that I have noticed on this forum lately, as soon as someone gets burned (most likely the buyer) they come on here kicking and screaming for everyones help. I guess in this case now it's OK for everyone to get involved:rolleyes:

Matt, sounds like you have protected yourself very well in this transaction. Hopefully the case is just as described. I will catch up with Jamie in Lousville and check it out. Sure looks nice.

Just recieved my case about 5 minutes ago. Very sweet case. Exactly as described.

I have an idea for a really cool purpleheart and ebony cue to match the case.

The transaction was smooth as silk other than the package being a couple days late. UPS fault not Chris's. Hopefully we'll do busissness again in the future.

Thanks,
Matt

Everone for themselves - one huge screwfest. Award points to sellers who get away with hosing other AZ'ers. Make it a contest: most deceptive description, cue sold for highest percentage above market value, most sub-13mm shafts sold in a year as 13mm, etc, etc., i.e - quit covering each others' backs and just give up.

is all i have to say about that

Sad but true. If you cover your own butt and don't get caught up in the I just have to have it because it's such a great deal crap you probably will never get taken.

Just a couple of suggestions that have worked for me

The seller ships to me on approval they get their payment. (for example this last deal with ChrisC.)

Cue is bought with Amex through Paypal if cue doesn't arrive as described Amex charges paypal back and paypal worries about getting their money from the seller. (Fancy Gina I bought from JOR). It did eventually show up and I called Amex and they put the charge through) Everyone was happy.

Escrow

When selling seller sends payment you first. Then immediately ship and send tracking info to the purchaser (puts the buyer at ease). Make a phone call to follow up and make sure they are delighted with their purchase in every way. ( Vinman and I on my fancy Haley)

If for some reason they are not have them ship merchandise back and give them a full refund including the cost of shipping the stuff back or negotiate a rebate that is acceptable and makes both parties happy.

Everybodys best option is to be totally truthful in their item descriptions when selling. If shafts have a roll say so . If it has a ding or a scratch say so. If your going to by and sell a few cues have calipers and a scale they are the best money you'll ever spend. Also shaft dia is measured at the base of the ferrul.

These are the things that have worked for me. Best of luck to all you buyers and seller .

Very good point. Also, before you pull the trigger, do a forum 'search' on the seller's handle.

all i have to say is that the quality of persons involved in a deal matters. Anything else is pure words. I didnt know Matt, he didnt know me. I am from Greece (which is zillion miles away), he is from the states. I trusted him, he trusted me and thats the whole purpose of a deal. Smooth like a baby's butt :)

Also, in 12/31/07 Chris added some items for sale and i was interested in a Predator Air jump. Before all this fuzz begun, i send him a PM asking him if he was able to send it overseas and he replied as follows: "I apoligize but I have had bad luck shipping oversees. Sorry"...And i am wondering, if he was a real scum as described by many fellow AZers in here, it would a piece of cake for him to rip me off since i was not in the states and i don't have the "connections" to go after him. Just a wonder. Your conclusions :)

Sorry it wasn't a bad luck it was done as a perfect crime...He won't waste his time to rip you off for the amount of $110 ...he could be thinking why waste my money for shipping if i can't get anything from the deal or ripping off Fedex to ask for more on the value of the package ...lol... please read our post and you will see :)

Only use Escrow with this thief!!

This thread is loooong, but gives accounts of MULTIPLE AzBilliards members getting ripped off by ChrisC, aka Chris Chance and Christian Chance.

This is ChrisC's latest ripoff of an AzBilliards member.
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=88092

Here is his old EBAY account feedback showing rip offs.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...ab=AllFeedback

He has also ripped people off on KentuckyHunting.net, as well as other sites, and has been banned from all but this one as far as I can tell.

I still have not yet figured out how some people get banned here for being a little irritating to some people, or having a difference of opinion with a moderator, and other very marginal offenses, yet a known thief with a long history of theft on many different sites is welcomed with open arms by the moderators at AzBilliards.
