Fans and Vendors on the ABP boycott of Behrman events

The APB can't help. If they could, they could start their own tournament.
The fact remains, these guys are not draws. They don't draw much money and don't have any fan base that would follow them. This is their problem.
Like any sport, Tiger Woods draws money. He is invited every year. Kobe and Lebron hold basketball clinics for kids and attract a fan base that would pay to see them play. This helps their league and the players.
APB is in no position to demand things when they don't contribute anything to the sport but just to collect their winnings and go on to the next tournament.
Rodney Morris said on the radio that he needed the winnings to travel to another tournament. Perhaps, you shouldn't be playing if you don't have the funds.
JAM...It was that way more than a 100 years ago...but then there were only three main sports...boxing, horse racing and billiards. I won't hold my breath waiting for that respect to return in a wholesale manner. That said, I get a lot of respect teaching and performing exhibitions, which I believe is good for the sport, AND allows me to make a nice living!

justnum...I'm thinking your reading comprehension level isn't up to par either. The first line of the ABP thing says, "We will NOT be attending the US Open 9ball event". It doesn't say "unless Barry ponies up first".

Pool player's should stick to playing pool because they suck at running any part of a Company (Pat Fleming excluded) I can see the storm coming for the ABP it is about to blow up in their face. In two years from now abp will be a thing of the past. Not to be mean or anything but I don't beleive they have the abilty to run a organization larger than a local bar. If they want to organize they should pool their money and hire an outside source with a little more education and a higher pay grade. Oh yeah. I also am not buying any of these players products and emailing cue tec about the cue sale they just lost because of their player protesting this tourney.

i saw somewhere in this thread "maybe dragon promotions is the new wave?cmon guys-dragon stole an old tourney title and makes it sounds like it runs in his family or theyve been putting it on for years lets stop all that noise-
the players want a guarantee they will be paid at the close of the event if they win-ok barry should demand that the organization guarantees the gate-(x-number of patrons)
2 things that dont seem likely-
playing for a living is beyond rough if you want to eat more than twice a week-so non players-shhh
abp pros-should also shhh(dont yell at the gate)
this a big sport/game with a small following because each entity works to make his/her event or league profitable for themselves-theres no public promotion to the rest of the world unless someone dies or was a public figure beforehand
it would be great if someone stepped in and escrowed the purse(100%)
then barry and his family could get an accountant and state that without X number of patrons to the event he will lose money and stop the event
or take the loss from the prize money-
everyone including barry needs to get together and make a real business plan for the event-if that doesnt happen soon were gonna have the same he-said she said bs.
