I play to hang with my friends the actual game is not really of much concern. The opponents are for the most part friends as well. The pool game itself feels to me like what you would do at a Christmas party. Not sure how the opponents feel. My guess is they take it more seriously like I used to 15 years ago when I finished in first place in league play year after year. There are about 4 other players in our league that I will bear down when playing just out of respect. The rest is recreational only like a single mother.

Also if you don't play 8 weeks you are not eligible for the BCA regional event which is much more serious and fun.
 
a degenerate gambler cannot control his gambling and is most always a losing bettor.

totally opposite of a person who wants to actually win something when he plays a contest instead of just self satisfaction.

and a smart winning gambler doesn't go out to beat someone out of their family food money. some have scruples.
 
Meh....I am no math wizard....so math wizards can prove me wrong I guess....but (although I don't think it was designed this way) it just seems to me that the way the system (FARGO) is being used, it is almost sandbagging itself.....

With all these 599 and under events.....How much is a 575 going to go up winning against a 590? and how much is a 590 going to go down vs a 575? ........If a 590 beats a 700 (it seems) they are going to go up much faster than if they beat a 575.

So if a 590 never really plays in events that are rated for over 600 players....they can essentially stay a 590 forever....(or at least quite a long time)

Is my thought process wrong????

At one point I was hovering around a 620 but went on a loooong hiatus from playing events..(most players that see me - that know/remember me - are shocked when they see me).......I have played in random events here and there but now have zero focus or skills and sucked hind titty ....dropping me to a 594.....I just played in a random "open" event and although I sucked hind titty early on.....enough pockets jumped in the way that I managed to finish 7/8....Interestingly...I almost finished in the $$...but...my FARGO went down even more and now I am a 590

Looking at the tournament scene....I now have MANY more options to play in than back when I was a +600...and....if I play only in the right events....it may take years to ever get back to 600......(at least that is the way it seems)

Yes, that's not how FargoRate works. You could play against no one over 500 and get a 700 rating. You would just have to beat them badly nearly all the time.

The strength of your wins and losses makes a big difference.

If you look at any tournament that’s in Digital Pool, you can click on the Performance tab and see how each player performed in the tournament.

Here is an example from a high stakes 599 and under tournament. You can see that the players playing the best performed much higher than their rating. I’m sure Bob or the guys from Fargo could explain, but almost by definition anyone winning a tournament of 570-600 tournament is going to average well above their rating for that tournament.

exactly dont beat bad players without letting them have lots of shots and win a fair number of games. this way your fargo stays lower than it should be. thats one way to cheat the system if you so choose to.

but it also makes you fun to play against.
