FargoRate Question

The guy Colby was nice enough, and we arranged to have a phone call. Seems because of the input method, they were flagged. So they still show on Salotto APP, but a bit disappointed that there's no way to verify them retrospectively since being flagged, and then have them added onto Fargo... regardless of witnesses, or viewable payment to me (via. WeChat). 75 racks down the drain.

He said they would look into the issue causing it to glitch out here. I am not a tech buff, but assume it's something server related. Gets past the loading screen only with VPN, won't remain active/live when left open. This was using 5G connection and a US server on VPN. He also said he'd refund the fees to PayPal or Venmo.

I'll give it a try over WiFi next time, but the friends I have here who I encouraged to download the APPs are also starter level on Fargo. The only two guys I know playing out of here regularly with a Fargo are both 720+ money players who like to play for a bit more than I would like to lose. Have asked in a few WeChat groups if there's anyone else already in the system I can get a game with. The friend who I logged the games with is off to Qinhuangdao on the weekend for a tournament, before leaving China, and so is only focussing on Chinese-8.
 
I'd recommend trying it again. Maybe on wifi like you suggested. Perhaps only play a short race to 7 to see if the technical difficulties can be resolved. Perhaps also play a weaker player as an app test. You will lose much less money, much less time, and less face, if it still does not work.

Don't worry about established vs non established players. Eventually, one of you will have many games, and links to the outside world, and then everyone's rating in your group will become more accurate.

Yeah, going to try and use it in a smaller group of friends, and see how that goes.
I already had one of the 720+ players make out like he wanted to match-up, then posted a princely sum like three messages deep into the chat lol Chinese have a good sense of humor/good banter. Not taking that on anytime soon 🤣

Just wanting to get an accurate rating I can work with. Interestingly, speaking with the guy Colby, it doesn't seem that WNT events are entered into/take into account Fargo.
With regard to the 'outside world' - I am in a perpetual state of debating my future here in general, and anything can happen :)

If you are using a US server/VPN in China, you probably got yourself added to a list somewhere, and got yourself some scrutiny with the Chinese government. Might want to watch your Ps and Qs, if you know what I mean.

Just saying.

Also, either salotto and/or fargo will flag matches submitted by salotto in certain circumstances for human review, probably to prevent obvious sandbagging attempts. You may have triggered that...

I "believe" for high profile events that do not use digital pool brackets and automatically report to fargorate (Matchroom events, WPA World Championships, Predator events, etc) that the FargRate team manually enters those.

Seems to be the case having spoken with Colby at Salotto. Said he'd refund me the cost of those matches, as there's no way to re-enter flagged matches, regardless of how many witnesses I have, or show the money transferred to me. So sent him Paypal ID.

It was late when I called the guy, and what you're saying sounds familiar. I think you may be right.

Based on what I've heard from the Western BCA people is that Fargo required the tournament to enter the results in a spreadsheet of a specific format. Pushing the work from Fargo to the tournament volunteers.

That is probably true for regional events. But for the several WPA world championship, the US Open, the UK Open, etc, I'd bet dollars to donuts Mike Page or someone is getting scores into his system in some way.
 
At the league level, I played in the BCA/USAPL world/national championships in Vegas at the end of February. None of those games has yet to show up in Fargo. All of them were manually scored.
