FargoRate Question

If you and your friends play enough you might want to consider starting your own "league". Some sort of weekly round robin, going this route you might be able to utilize the FR League Management System and directly enter your information into the FR website. If you did this, you could also show your friend who runs the tournaments how it works?

Just a thought.

My friend is a TD for a store here who organizes some events with big names in Asia often joining. I have had the chance to watch and even play some greats here (as I have written about before). He actually wants to incorporate FargoRate to give better outline of player abilities and better assist further development of tournaments that give opportunities to a wider variety of players.
Chinese-8 takes precedence here, and he wants to make handicapped events to encourage more players to take up playing on American tables to maintain interest in American table games here.

People's idea of frequencies is often 'off' lol. But I can answer for him here without a doubt, he is saying races not racks, as Joshua Filler wouldn't win 8/10 games against a 650.

Would be nice to be a decent favorite against a legit 650. That is a high level indeed. But 80% vs one....skewed perception imo....or we'll be seeing this AZBer at the world championships soon.
I was hoping the system works here and I could encourage many more friends to use Salotto for match-ups, and that the local tournaments could implement the FargoRating. I want to get an accurate rating and develop my game. At the moment, I am quite frustrated. Having beaten some great players, and lost to some who I see much lower. I want to get some better idea of the speed at which I operate.

Benefit of the doubt has been given on my end for sure. But I am trying to encourage more friends to use it so I can continue to build a rating. No one wants to use something when they can't see if it works. 'Face' matters in this culture, so I am actually a little bit bothered by the fact that I look stupid or unreliable to these people. 'Face' is worth more than a few $$$
Right, I think it's just like a 2,-3 week lack of updates as this big tournament in USA is going on. It'll go back to updating basically weekly once this is done

You won 75 out of 132 games. 57%.
Vs 704 - so what would that equate to?
I am beating my friend in 600s much more often than not like I said.
I've only ever played a few other people who I've known to have had a FargoRating. In tournament play, I once beat someone current ranking 774 (was 5-3 to me, lot of luck involved). I lost two sets 8-2, 8-1 to someone ranked 724. Wrote about both in another thread previously a few months ago. I also lost 9-3 to someone ranked 711, but that was almost a year ago and I'd only switched from snooker to pool for a couple of months at that time.
I've played many people who I'd describe as much more experienced than me. I've beaten players that have beaten the guy ranked 724 but do not have a rating. I have had my ass handed to me on occasion, pulled off some good wins on occasion. I have enjoyed watching myself improve, and it's part of the reason I wanted to track Fargo in the first place.

I beat him more often than not, around 8 out of 10 games. Speaking generally (8, 9 or 10 ball). His rating is actually 627. I played him last night, but he wouldn't use Salotto based on the fact It didn't enter my previous matches...
i would take a lot of action on the under :p

An 800ish FR has that kinda rack winrate vs a 627. Given your results vs the guys in the 700s, I'd guess you are having some positive variance vs the 627 guy or just misremembering exact rack winrate.

Either way, you seem to be quite a player. I def wouldn't mind watching a match or two of yours. Do you post any? Or do I have to wait till you go deep in a major?

This statement is just considering the last few times we played when I’ve battered him quite thoroughly. Speaking in generalities, which is one reason I want to get a FR in the first place :ROFLMAO: feeling pretty good about my game lately.

I’ve improved a lot since I initially switched from snooker, especially this last six months. I feel my brain has locked onto shot selection a lot better. I’m a better player now than when I beat a 774, and played the other 700s a fair few months ago.

I played well in the recent 75 racks vs. 700, but he doesn’t really touch American tables. He’s in town for a Chinese-8 tourney. So, playing him at 10-ball on a 4.125 cornered American table swung odds in my favor considerably and saw a lot of bitching about the table. He’s certainly a better player than me generally speaking. He’s getting invites and paid expenses, playing Chinese-8 ball for an income...

I’ve posted a few shots here and there on IG, but no matchplay.
I wish I had the time and money to get to tourneys outside of where I’m living... Trying to get to Pattaya for UK open qualifier (work permitting).

I know all about “face”! My gf is Taiwanese. I hope it’s just a delay and works out.
Sometimes I think I understand how to walk the delicate line of maintaining "face" and other times I am completely lost. Cultural/social differences seem galaxies apart sometimes.

I'll email them again in a few days. Won't be spending anymore dollars there til it's sorted.

Still no change on this. In fact, the score actually dropped a point? Still showing no games.
I CC'd FR support, after they recommend me to message Salotto support (who didn't reply).
Had three or four opportunities I would have added to my game tally if it worked, but frivolous enough to just throw $ away.

Seems like Fargo updated today for first time in a few weeks . Surprised your scores did not go in.
It's pretty annoying. Like I said, they replied to me at first, then told me it's Salotto I had to email. I CC'd them into that email to Salotto. Even linked this thread lol
The matches show on Salotto, and originally did come up on Fargo under the public matches section, then they vanished and are still not there. Not going to use the APP if this is the case, which is a shame. As I mentioned, I was hoping to get a few friends here to use it, and get my local TD to use it in tournaments (as some of the international or traveling players who compete have listings, and it would be much better than their current in house handicapping)
If I know it works, just takes time, I am happy with that, but this is way too much hassle currently.

@Flakeandrun , would you PM me your real name? I'll look it up on my app and see if it shows anything different.

My 2 friends in Philadelphia just 6 hours ago played 3 Salatto sets on a facebook livestream. I checked them on the FargoRate app, and the games are all in there. The games are not reflected yet in their ratings, I think it will take 1-2 days. But they do show up almost immediately after their sets.

Will do.
They still show on my Salotto app. can send screenshot to you.
I think I have explained the situation in pretty clear detail already in this thread.
Can verify the games with witness, the cash transferred to me or anything else (might be able to pull the CCTV even) :ROFLMAO:
Joking here a little at this point, but I am slightly annoyed I've spent money, and more annoyed that I've lost a bit of face after rabbiting on about FR and encouraging some friends here to get Salotto.
I'm not the type to just throw money away, and naturally the friends I suggested to get it won't try. My TD friend set himself up on FR. Trying to get him to use the digital pool brackets and try and do FR for players that way perhaps.

57% win rate against a 704 rated player puts you at 745 fargo

This is why I wanted to encourage more friends to get these apps, and TD to start implementing. As I struggle to see that... and whether I'm higher or lower. I want to have some gauge to improve (other than I beat this guy now, or I feel I am playing terribly lately)

FR is not round robin format friendly.

As I have emailed Fargo directly, they told me to email Salotto. A user here told me the matches have a 'report issue' button (which is situated at the bottom of each match). I just used that to send three separate email reports, and linked this thread to an email rather than explain over and over. Thought 'digitzing' everything was supposed to be convenient... Human progress...
