Not from what I could tell. I placed a straight edge along the long rail to see if the cue ball came in contact with it when he shot that shot and it came close, but as far as I could tell, did not touch it.
Perhaps you can see it better on your screen than I could, but it seemed like it didn't really even come close to touching it.

I've read about it, but never seen it. I took one lesson from him a few years ago. To get the tip book you refer to, I think it would be necessary to book a two day session with him.
I have to say he was very generous with his time, and charged me $50, which was agreed to in advance, with the understanding that if I was in any way unhappy or unsatisfied with the lesson or what I learned that I would not have to pay him.
All in all, he worked on my stroke, my stance, how to address the ball and so on, and showed me a few different ways to draw the ball. Let the critics say what they want about how he teaches the draw shot, his method does work, and pretty well, although I don't use it very often.
And when all was said and done, we had the lesson and played 9 ball, all told, 3 hours. During the 9 ball session, he helped me with ideas and pointers and so on.
If it sounds like I was happy with the lesson, I was.
