Fast Larry is back

If memory serves, he wrote somewhere that he was challenged on that score, and that the video isn't very clear about whether the ball did touch the rail, and so he did another one. That's the one I'm referring to. In that other video, from what I could see, the cue ball didn't touch a rail...

As for your offer, from what I can tell, he's no fool. He likely knows you'd own him.

IIRC from the video, it was the 2nd or 3rd shot. The cue ball rolls and "rests" along the rail which is the same as touching it. The other shot in question, the cue ball goes out of view and returns, obviously touching another rail :p . A lot of people pointed this out to him and he eventually removed the video from his website.

It's not that Larry knows I would own him or anything. I just think that Larry doesn't deal with pressure situations in pool very well, like tournament competition or being challenged one on one. It's much different to run a rack practicing by yourself under no pressure, and its completely different trying to run that same rack with another player staring you down, waiting for you to miss.

FWIW, Larry is not a bad guy once you get to know him. He rattles off at the mouth and stirs up controversy only to add to his legend. He loves all of the attention more than he loves the glory. In person he's a good guy who is very polite, which is quite surprising if you have only judged him by his online persona.

I agree with that whole heartedly, the only exception being if someone really gets in his face and starts insulting him. Some people really know how to push his buttons and then he goes off.

A couple of years ago I took a lesson from him at Chris's. The only thing I asked him to do was straighten out my stroke. In less than 10 minutes he had me stroking one handed sending the cue ball perfectly up table and back, with the cue ball hitting the cue tip repeatedly.

He also showed me a bunch of stuff that helped my game.

Quite a character, that's for sure.

Its actually kind of sad, because Larry has a lot of good knowledge that he can share with others. Too bad he can't do it without the insults and the tantrums.

Agreed. I'll take David's word on this, since I've only known his online personnas. And, I've been attacked by him, verbally, for reasons I won't get into, as they concern other people. Online he's a nutcase of the first water.

I couldn't agree with you more.

The online experience certainly doesn't work out well for some people. While it's true he brings at least some of it on himself by what he says online, he also maintains there are people who post aliases of him to hurt him further.

In any case, speaking with him by phone, as I have done on a few occasions, and interacting with him in person is quite a different experience from the way he conducts himself online.

It really is sad. I avoid contradicting him, same as I do with most other posters online, as it sure doesn't help anything to rile him up.

Watching him pull off certain kinds of shots with unorthodox strokes and techniques can be eye-opening.

Hopefully one day he'll be able to overlook the insults and just dismiss them and ignore them. If not, his difficulties won't come to an end.

Web site information

Fast Larry,

Sorry, but, I have not had the opportunity to meet you. In this thread it states you have a web site. Could you post it or PM me with the address. Always looking for more information on the sport.

Thanks

He was banned a long time ago. How is he supposed to post his website or PM you?

If you want to find him, try Googling "Fast Larry" as it'll be certain to appear.

Or you could just wait around awhile, I'm sure he'll be back in one guise or another.

... or you can go to www.poolchat.net - that's Larry's very own pool forum. You can "apply" to register - then he needs to do a thorough FBI background check on you (and all of your immediate family members) to make sure you're not Debra Li.

Have fun.

My guess is, the guy who brought the thread back from the dead, Doublebye, was another alias used by FL. Fortunately, the moderators caught on and banned him again.

I took the picture DoubleBye was posting in all the threads and used my special "reveal" filter in Photoshop on it. Here's the results.

Rubyron,

Your post is a classic example of the kind of stuff that simply tees Fast Larry off. I find your post and the photoshopping most offensive.

Get a grip, pal. Does Fast Larry so bother you that you must engage in this sort of stuff? Or perhaps I should word my question differently: What did Fast Larry do that leads you to waste your time in this manner?

Funny, I thought he was the one that initiated this thread? Ooops. Must have been mistaken:D

Thanks Larry. Got the PM

If you had ever been party to one of fl's tantrums or had one directed at you, you might understand. When I said he was a nutcase online, that was putting it VERY mildly. He posted on rsb under numerous screen names and aliases, spewed homophobic, vitriolic crap at just about everyone, along with so-called christian bs. I'm not saying I agree with Rubyron's action, but I ain't gonna get on him for it.

I've read some of Fast Larry's very offensive stuff, which is impossible to defend (even he admits he was wrong to write it), and shouldn't be tolerated.

However, Rubyron's "art" is plenty offensive, to say the least. Two wrongs don't make a right.

And I didn't say it did. But I also understand how much he pissed people off.

So...since this thread has been dug up and I've heard his name on here before, how well did this "Fast Larry" play? I'm not looking to bash the guy or start a flame war, just curious if he really played as well as he claimed in his posts. Jay, Mike Janis, Freddy, Jam or anyone else on here ever seen him play or heard of him outside of these boards?

Call me curious! ;)

Have a look at his site: http://www.fastlarrypool.com/trickshots_15ballrun_256.htm
