Fast Larry is back

Great Larry! I think a reflection on one is the company he keeps. If Mike sees you as a friend then that is only positive. I dont know him as well as you but I love the guy too. We should all be more like him.
Good luck on your tour. I lived in Shanghai for four months on a job. I must of gotten at least 10 marriage proposals. Have a drink at the Hilton for me.

Thanks for writing, dont use the Hilton: Ah yes, the far east China Dolls, nothing quite like them any where. They are very addictive. You come home here and all the women look hugh.

does wonder dog have a flea circus ?

No but the fleas have a circus on max's back.
I have 4 wonder dogs and I live on a acre and they spend a lot of time out doors so in the summer keeping fleas off of them is impossible. I bathe them once a week and put the flea medicine on them and that keeps the problem under control. It also helps to bathe them using Dawn dish soap, that kills fleas and runs them off well. My dogs have less fleas and are cleaner that half of the people I run into in pool halls, I can tell you this is true.

Play with a Meucci power piston right off the shelf, hard talisman pig pro tip, red dot shaft.
Break with a custom Schuler, bankok birch shaft, #5, stiffest one.
Jump with Steath
Masse, Schuler, Stealth, my own custom designs, 2 of.
Mop handle home depot, draws and masses.
Mop handle kmart, jumps.

As I said earlier, I now must leave the board for a while. I shall lurk in now and then. I'll always be around for you. This thread said Fast is back, we'll that is no longer true, Fast has now really left the building. Fast is long gone but he shall return soon. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

May God bless and peace be with you. May the wind be always on your back and all 9 balls fall. VENI VIDI VICI, OMNIA VINCIT AMOR. Latin for “I came, I saw, I conquered, love conquerors all.
“Fast Larry” Guninger :p

Now I know why that guy was banned. Goodness sakes those are some long posts!! Then that Double guy, he must have been pretty bored.

My guess is, the guy who brought the thread back from the dead, Doublebye, was another alias used by FL. Fortunately, the moderators caught on and banned him again.

...and/or doublebye caught a necroban, necroing long dead threads being a bannable offense on some of the other forums I follow.

How good was Larry really?!

So...since this thread has been dug up and I've heard his name on here before, how well did this "Fast Larry" play? I'm not looking to bash the guy or start a flame war, just curious if he really played as well as he claimed in his posts. Jay, Mike Janis, Freddy, Jam or anyone else on here ever seen him play or heard of him outside of these boards?

Call me curious! ;)

I don't know about now, but he was supposed to have run a rack of rotation without touching a rail on tape. That sounds pretty sporty to me.

Recently, I have offered Fast Larry the Wild 5, the breaks, and I agreed to give him ball in hand every time I missed a shot - plus I'd give him 5 games in a race to 9. He never showed up to play. Even with giving up all that weight, he'd still have problems getting out, and I'm sure I wouldn't work up a sweat.... and yes I've seen him play.

Did he ever play better than that?

Blackjack, this is now, and I'm told his eyes aren't very good. I'm wondering how good his 9 ball game was when he was playing his best.

I think I can find a video somewhere where he breaks the balls in 14.1 and after the break runs all the balls out without letting the cue ball ever touch a rail. The video I saw was shot in a regular pool hall with other players moving around. I don't see how that could have been faked.

I also think I can find some of those trick shot videos that he made over the years. Some pretty good stuff.

I don't know if he plays pool well at all anymore, although he can do alright with the trick shot stuff, which I've seen him perform in person, one night at Chris's in Chicago.

LOL.... Well, he claimed to be the #37 ranked PROFESSIONAL in the WORLD, when in fact, he had never won a SINGLE match. All FL's tournaments were 2 'n out. He did get a 'bye' one time and them claimed to 'have gone farther' than some other Pros that he named.

( I can't believe that I just wasted another 40 seconds of my life on FL ) :)

Well, so beyond what you, accomplished player that you are, feel you can offer him as a spot, what was/is his speed? Sounds like you're saying he's a BIG underdog to get out with ball in hand; this would make him what, D player, APA SL3 or 4? It's pretty apparent from his posts and his reputation that he's an "all talk no action" kinda guy, but can he really be THAT bad? Just because I find him to be sort of an enigma of a person, I'm curious to hear your honest assessment of his ability level on the table.

Sorry Doug! lol
Perhaps you can consider it as time spent educating the unenlightened as opposed to time wasted on Fast Larry...;-)

He's ok at the trick shots - agreed, he misses more of them that he tries - but my offer to play him 9 ball or 10 ball under those conditions still stands.

As far as that video of the "no rails"... I believe he does touch a rail during that run, which is kind of hard to see because of the camera angle, but he does touch it.

If memory serves, he wrote somewhere that he was challenged on that score, and that the video isn't very clear about whether the ball did touch the rail, and so he did another one. That's the one I'm referring to. In that other video, from what I could see, the cue ball didn't touch a rail...

As for your offer, from what I can tell, he's no fool. He likely knows you'd own him.
