Fast Larry lessons/pool school

Yeah I know FL is a wise guy and was banned from this forum. I am curious if anyone has actually every paid him money for lessons or went to one of his pool schools? What did you think of him or his lessons? Was there value in those lessons? I suspect there could be some value in just having lunch with the guy! haha.

I have seen some youtube vids of him and he can hit the rock....but teaching is a whole different art form.

Despite what you see with is internet posts, the Fast Larry you will meet "in person" is a completely different guy. Very likeable, very articulate, polite, and knowledgable.

He has a lot of knowledge that you will find useful, and yes you'll enjoy the time that you will spend with him.

As far his internet persona goes, I think he does his abilities as an instructor a great disservice by being such a jerk.
JMHO.

As one of the people he's attacked, I think the above is an understatement.

I have paid Fast Larry for some lessons and it was worth every penny.

I also observed him giving lessons to level 4s and 5s, and he was very basic and a good teacher. This guy has spent years studying all of the old pool players and the young and he has taken the best from them and put this information into very good lessons.

BTW, if you want the advanced lessons, he is very very good at those also. And, of course, Larry has more pool stories than just about anyone. I have to give to nod to Grady there, however, and a few others who post on this forum. For stories in general, Larry is tops - you won't be bored, that is for sure.

Blackjack, in this Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpwBcTX7atg

Isn't that your offensive, somewhat homophobic comment at the bottom?.:D

I believe I wrote that in response to some horse manure he printed in his forum about me having a 3 inch pecker. Word to the wise, NaturalEnglish, if you go to lunch with Larry and you both end up at the urinals at the same time, he peeks... and if he's jealous he'll start rumors to the contrary. Just warning you.

Personally, I don't have anything against the guy (one on one) - he's really a genuinely nice person - but something happens to him when he logs onto the internet. It's like two completely different people.

(on second thought - maybe he's gotten hit in the head with cue ball too many times after missing that particular trick shot...)

I have had some really good conversations with Larry - and believe it or not, there are some gems in the writings he has on pool instruction - you just have to weed out all the other nonsense to find it.

Once again, I see why I enjoy your posts so much. You don't allow your emotions to cloud your honest opinions and you're never afraid to express them.

Fast Larry is O.K. in my book.

Well, I and most others only know him by his internet persona and we all know what that is. I wish he had a different approach but it is what it is. I guess if I knew him away from the internet as you do Dave I might feel differently, who knows? Unfortunately, from what I've experienced online with him I don't wish to ever meet him.
I do appreciate your opinion on him from a personal perspective, I have heard the same from others who have met him. It's too bad he can't bring his real personality out online. I have a feeling if he did he would have earned much respect.

Anyone who thinks fl is ok has never experienced his online insanity. Why do you think he's been barred from most forums except his own?? Google rec.sport.billiard and you'll see the posts under his name and, if you take the time to figure it out, you'll find the huge number of personas he takes on in a vain attempt to make everybody think he's someone else. His pro christian rants with homophobic obscenities in the next breath are legend. There are people he has harassed online and, according to some, in person. He's made threats to numerous people, including me, for imagined reasons. David has told me before about how he's different in person and I have to admit I find it hard to believe. He may be a spit personality, but I doubt it.

There are the old jokes...often combined about the hot young lady chatting with a Texan at an upscale night club.

She asked the old boy how big his ranch was. He said "Ten acres ma'am.

She said..."That's not very big. Where is it?...to which he replied..."Downtown Dallas."

Impressed, she asked him about the size of his ummm...equipment. He said "Two inches." She said "OMG that's tiny"...to which he replied..."Wide ma'am."
