Fatboy's "TRIBUTE TO MY DAD" CUE Cap Set

also if you notice the wrap and rubber is all thats touching any rough surface.

my biggest concern was knocking them over like domino's, I set them up fast and had them facing the direction we needed for the pic before setting them down, I estimated where I would set the 2,3,4 cue before placing them so I wouldnt have to move them once the were set, There was a little movement-but nothing was at risk. Believe me I love these cues more than anyone and I'm the last guy you would find mis treating them. Think the set is worth $4,500 in this market??? ;)

Hey Eric, the Ebony cue with the leather wrap has ring-work in the butt I have always called "I-beam" rings. What is the correct description for those lovely rings?

[trying to find the words] I've come back to this thread numerous times, and have yet to find the words to say...[/trying to find the words]

Most impressive work Alton...I've been speechless for a day or two now...Your work really is on a different level...Fantastic job!!! You obviously have access to Eric's cues...On very high level cues, Do you just get measurements...or do you request the cue be shipped to you for precision? Just curious because everything I've seen from your shop looks as if the cue maker made them alongside one another...

Eric... Holy grail of cues comes to mind while eyeballing this beautiful tribute...Wow, still kind of speechless LOL... This is probably the pinnacle of cue making. Congrats on being its fine owner...

Don't have Cue in-Hand

Mid-Life,
Thanks..
I can't take the Cue "In-Hand"..
Too big of a liability..
That's one reason I don't do all kinds of cues.
It's harder to be the 2nd guy trying to copy the original.
I use photos..
But, by using them..
Colors, off angle misleading view, not sure if the cuemaker
made the sizes in fractional ( .250 or 1/4") or .100" , .200" .150" (Mertic?)
all make it hard to make it exact.
As for Szamboti Cues, I had a chance to ask Barry at the VF SBE Dinner..

Eric, I didn't mean no harm when I mentioned about the cues on the concrete..
It was an old joke..
Remember David.. The time you 1st posted the pics.

Alton I know its a old joke, but there is a big risk in doing that. If I remember I took a but of something else out there first to check the light etc(i'm not positive about that). The risk is huge and Barry would kill me if I sent in 4 cues to be refinished for being that reckless. Thats got to be over $100,000 worth of cues or close to it. We had good morning light, we have a better set up fo pics now-so no more chances.

Alton also call me or email mewhen your gonna ship, please use Fed-X NOT UPS, i can provide you my account number, UPS dosent get here until almost 8pm, Fed-X I'm almost the first stop. So they wont be bouncing around all day.

Barry and I someday are going to get together with a private moment and have a drink to our dads and hit the balls with the tribute cue(I have never even put it together-I'm saving that momnent<---------I made this public today because of kens post about losing his dad a year ago. Life can be so difficult at times.

AWESOME caps!

Hi Alton,

You really stunned me with these caps. Your work is beautifull.
Bob's scrimshaw is GREAT! I just wish he would have used the
picture of me where I look like George Clooney.

Eric called me and told me to look at the listing. I was on the
phone with him and I told him, 'You are the Gus of Cuecaps'.

Please let Bob know that I admire his work also.

Thanks for a great cap for what I consider to be my favorite cue.

Oh and Hangem, That link is just called the 'H' link.

Best wishes,
Barry

wonderful caps..

engaging anecdotes ... one can see the brotherhood in this community ... that is so re-freshing ...

i got a Gus recently ( it is sitting with barry ) that came with a set of Alton's scrimshawed Gus caps... when are holding them, the images just pop ! truly exquisite work ...

barry's holding the cue but sent the caps to me while i was in LA so now they are here with me in HK ...

doubt i will ever sell them...

tommy, it may be years before we see what that piece turns into but i will definitely keep you posted :)

all the best,
kam

I had to..

I just had to post 1 more time..
To say,
Thanks for posting Barry.. :grin-square:
Feels good to read that..

Thanks, too, Sherm and Kam..

I'm glad this cue and caps keep the spirit of Gus alive and well.
We all need to look up to the Masters of the pass and be thankful for
what they started for us..

I'm also proud to be apart of it, although Bob Hergert
really "Made the Caps"..:o
