sorry i'm too stupid to post pics,
my favorite SW I played with for 7 years part time, causse I was only playing part time but still got alot of play is a:
ebony forarm with 6 solid ivory points(no veneers), i had it made as a collector cue(i thought it would be to stiff/off-balance etc to use) but knew it would look good. I had a different SW i was using from 86, but to my surprise it is hands down the best hitting SW ever, it is a very soft hitting SW, typically gaboon ebony/ivory cues suck they just look good. i need to have the 3rd set of tips put on it, i'm not hard on tips but have wore down 2 sets on 2 shafts on this cue and the but is shiny as it was the day i got it, it only went to a pool room a few times i played with it at home while i was retired from pool. i'll take pics of it and email them to someone to post.
also there are some incrediable pics in this thread, congrats to the owners, its hard for me to pick a favorite, i have a macasser ebony(light piece of wood) and tulip wood points(good tulip wood, after 1990 Jerry was having a hard time finding any he liked and had a $200-$300 upcharge for tulip wood to the best of my recollection) cant remember the colors of the veneers, I ordered it on my dads B-Day 7-1-86 and recieved it in may 87 it cost me $350 delivered, I won enough that week to pay for it, I still have it, its 60" long. and makes a "Ping" sound when you hit the ball. I will never sell it. I didnt live in Vegas then, little did I know 13 years later I would live 2.5 miles from their shop and then I bought my parents the house next door, I took my mom over to the SW shop to show her how cues were made several times in 99, she remembered the $350 for the cue and was pissed then, after meeting Laurie etc. she understood. funny how things work.
the only SW i resold was when they first started the seral numbers in the pin, I had 94-008 I think was the number(i cant remember I know it was higher than 5 and lower than 10) I believe Jerry kept the first couple numbered cues., Laurie told me it was the 7th or 8th pin they numbered and they were gonna keep numbering them, It was the uglyest SW in the history of SW everyone at the shop agreeded we all laughed, I sold it about 2 weeks later and made a couple dollars aginst my better judgment but times were tough and I was flipping alot of poles then. About a year or 2 later I saw the uglyest SW ever again in LA, I sole it in Vegas, I wondered if it was the same cue, so I watched the kid who was playing with it, he played jam-up, I walked up asked if I could see his cue, and if it was ok to take the shaft off it, he didnt mind-sure enough it was the cue I had before, he bought it off a guy in Hardtimes. He was leaving for Europe, where he lived in a week. Never saw the cue again, he even commented on how ugly it was, we laughtd it was that paulo something wood Jerry liked and puke green veneers and some shit brown/grween wrap....i cant remember but man it was bad. I regret selling it because of the low seral # and it was so ugly it would have made the rest of my SW's look better. hope you liked these long stories, i have wicked jet lag and am all wired up now. i need a 24 he pool room in LA, wish I was in Vegas.
