Anyone ever think about using a baseball bat or tennis racket wrap on their cue?

I used to play a lot of baseball, and I also have played some tennis. I really like the feel of the leather wraps used on rackets and bats, and the ridges in them with the underlying padding. I am thinking of buying a wrap and trying it out on my cue.

Anyone else do this before? How were the results?

LOL never thought of doing that before. Bad sadly, I do not play tennis and I've always used wood bats with nothing but tape. I like to feel as much of the bat as possible. I like my cues the same way so I don't like wraps on cues either. But this sounds like an idea. Give it a try and let us know.
 
I prefer no wrap, but I'm also used to irish linen, so any of those 2 will do. Though I'm really interested to try a leather wrap. :rolleyes:

Yup. And I don't think he's the only one...
I've heard others talk about adding tennis grip to their cues. Lol. Looks kinda neat, I guess...and must be ultra comfy...but I'm not quite sure what these guys do with their cues that requires such a grip??? Lol :D

Ive got a roll of stuff called tommy tape thats used like electrical tape, its a stretchy rubbery tape, no adhesive.... it just sticks to itself. Ive thought about wrapping some on a break cue just to see what it would feel like..... never know it may be good. Would look like crap, but might feel good...... :D

I like to hold the cue VERY lightly... cradle it in my back hand and llet the cue slide forward through my hand on the forward stroke. Kind of like throwing the cue at the cb so I don't want anything causing that to hang up or be deflected.
 
I had a McDermott with a cork wrap once. The cue hit like a wet noodle but the wrap was sure nice.

I have a surprising number of customers request no wrap - like the looks of an exotic wood handle and the feel.
 
I never owned a pool cue until I moved to the US. Always used a snooker cue, for pool & snooker. I only have a cheap cue now with an Irish Linen wrap but I have to say I prefer no wrap so far.

I'm actually tempted to pick up another snooker cue to play with again. Just used to the smaller tips I guess.

I've played Stan Tourangeau probably 100 times and I'd be willing to bet he used 50 different cues. The bat tape thing would not surprise me. There was a guy we called Towtruck who had his Mcdermott wrapped in hockey tape with a big nob on the end. Everyone laughed until they saw him shoot. Never judge a book by the cover.
