Hi there,

at this years Valley Forge Cue show we got in touch with a lot of our american cuemaking comrads and sold quite some quantity of our ivory substitute ELFORYN. I kindly ask all the buyers (Webb, Lambros,Josey,Buss,Olivier,Dishaw, Bella Sera Custom Cues,Hercek etc.) if they happen to read this post, for a feedback on how you all liked the material.

So please post here or contact us directly uat service-at-eurowest-cues.de

Thanks in advance for the effort.

Best regards,

Markus & Andi

Bump to the top. I'd like to hear about this product from the cue makers.

Here's my non-cuemaker's $.02

It smells really good when you cut it. Way better than maliciously exploited and murdered elephants.

I haven't played with a cue with an Elforyn joint and don't really like the way Ivory plays, but it looks nice. So if you are the type of person who likes the look of ivory without the bloodshed I think this is a good product.

That's all I have to say about Elforyn, now I have to go find a supplier for the Panda Bear wrap for my next cue.

I'm not a cuemaker but DO have a cue with an elforyn joint, and really like it! I was unsure of how it would hold up at first, but its held up just fine.Ask DZCUES his opinion on it cause I know he's used it on cues, though I'm not sure how much he's used it. I know I got one shaft coming with an elforyn ferrule to "test out" when its ready, so I can give you better feedback on it as a ferrule then. I gotta give him feedback also, I can hardly wait to try this material out!

If you guys could give me some prices on some different sizes (ferrule, joint, butt) I'd appreciate it. Along with those prices if I could get some more info on the material that would be great.

Thanks
Dave

Just a side remark: Of course Elforyn can be used to build a complete cue. See the cue in the middle.

Joint size 84.00 ft.
Butt size 155.00 ft

If I remember correctly, they had free shipping.

As much as you want it from 18 to 20 OZ (NOT Pounds of course :-). You have to core it like Ebony or other dense and heavy woods. The cue we showed at the VF cue sho weight 19,5 Oz.

I was being sarcastic...however those prices seem a little on the high side...with only one distributor one should expect that...

EDIT: at 5 times the price of Masecraft I won't be buying an Elforyn soon...

Hell, the price has come down some. Have many people tried it for ferrules yet? I'm still looking for an alternative for Melamine that no longer is up to par. I know one person said that it played softer than Melamine. Like to have a few other opinions before I commit though.

IF it hits like ivory, then I think it'd softer than glass melamine or the old Aegis.:)

joint

I gotta say I like it as a joint material. YEAH, its softer than the old AEGIS for sure...That stuff was hard! I have 1 of those ferrules left on a cue but rarely use it due to how hard it is...Its nice to have something like that though. I can't wait to try ELFORYN out as a ferrule. I'm just hoping it doesn't "squirt" like ivory does. :D

Masecraft does not carry Elforyn. Furthermore there is no material that comes that close to real ivory in terms of hit and look and feel...:-)

I'm talking about Masecrafts alternative ivory...as for looks I think Masecrafts looks better...the elforyn looks more blotchy in appearance and doesn't have the straight grain lines like ivory...but neither does Masecrafts...also don't start flaming if you have something to say...I'm not knocking elforyn but it's also not made of gold...

Received word from Keith Josey that he hasn't had a chance to use any of the joint or buttcap material yet. Passed on your email so he can give feedback if he chooses :)
