Second operation means it does limited things very efficently, but will not do everything like a full blown metal lathe will. Although this lathe won't do everything, it does many things much faster than a metal lathe. For instance I have a turret lathe in my shop and I can set the material to length, center drill, drill, glue relief hole drill, tap and part off a threaded ferrule in less than one minute from solid rod stock. Like I said it won't do everything, but those secondary operations it will do, it does really fast.itsjustjay said:Does that mean never touched by human hands?
Seriously though, that is one fine machine!
I believe those are called second operation lathes. Not really sure what the term means though.
