Just wanted to say what a feeling it is to finally have broken through the pool demons!

My road to recovery was to try things that i have never tried before starting with my stroke. I had to venture back to making the simple stroke as in the straight back and straight through.. "Shannon Daulton's stroke is a great example"
I still have a a slight wind up for feel but when its time to deliver its coke bottle straight...
It's still in progress but hey...it's better than it was..=)
Just thought i would share and thought other s may have a story about changes or things they tried that got them back in the groove...

Coming back

Me too. I am in the early stages of 'rebuilding the house'.

Sounds like you are making good progress. Congratulations.

Me-it's slow. Doing foundation drills. I'm hitting a lot of center ball with my phenolic tip trying to stay on the correct side of things.

So far-Ghost 47/me-3.

Could be worse.

Take care.

3 rail, you use a phenolic for everyday playing?

Good work tigerseye, keep at it. Breaking down and going back to basics is hard. Do you use a pause at the end of your backswing? If it isn't something you've tried yet, now is a good time. Straight back, pause, straight through. That was a change that jumpstarted my game a bit.

Yes there is a puse but i can hardly feel it. It is almost automatic due to me trying to keep the cue straight as possible without dipping it...
It feels good...

Pause is indeed a good tip. It will force your eyes to move onto the object ball, which is where they should be at the point of the stroke. At times, under pressure for instance, people tend to lose their timing and can deliver the cue too soon. A well established pause before the stroke will fix that problem preemptively.

Good luck

CreeDo-

Phenolic playing cue-No way.

I use the phenolic shaft as a training tool. I'm working on starting over-hitting center stun/natural rolling/minimal draw shots with the emphasis on natural shape routes. It helps me focus on straight stroke mechanics and reinforces the importance of speed control to stay on the correct side of shots. I have gotten so far away from -KISS/ it's time for me to go back to truest fundamentals.

If it gets too clanky for others in the room-I add chalk--;)(the mis-hits are an even uglier sound)

For regular playing-noooooo!

If any one has other suggestions for starting over-I'm all ears.

Thanks

Bill

Note: Coming back after 4 month layoff
