some info please on what the strongest ferrules are available, I need one that will still hold up with quite a thin wall due to tip size.

If the ferrule wall is thin, you cut the tenon to a smaller size & then the ferrule wall will be thicker. You can also use a capped ferrule, which has a solid end on it, instead of a tube type...JER

Brass or stainless would not break. :D :D :D

Try to provide some detail if you want something more specific.

Thanks for the quick replys! at this point I am not sure how much I can reduce the tenon size, just looking for info on the different types of materials available, thanks again.

Are you asking , because you are planning to do this repair yourself? Any good repairman can handle this, with ease...JER

Glass melamine if you can get your hands on it. Very hard material. Would work well of a short, thin, uncapped ferrule.

Glass melamine breaks when uncapped.
The harder the ferrule is the more brittle it is.
I'd go for fibre ferrule.
It collapses before it breaks.

Where can we buy fiber ferrules now?

The word on the street is....
The company that made the fiber ferrules burned down & is no longer. So there are no more fiber ferrules being made. I have a limited supply...I suggest hanging on to what you may have left because at this time there looks to be no more.;)
Ivorine 4 is the strongest ferrule material currently made....maybe ever.
